Love this old time General Store. Been bringing my kids there around Christmas time for years - it was a family tradition. Glenn has everything you could need there like any General Store but Christmas time has always made the store shine.

On our visit to Kingston we decided to stop by Hurleys' Country. My husband is a model train affectionate, we wouldn't want to miss visiting this store. You find everything and anything to build your model train sets here. Very nice owners, family run. Owner spoke to us and told us the story on how he decided to open his business and all. We will be back soon!! Definitely recommend to come by and get your toys train sets.

This place is definitely worth a stop! It's like stepping back in time! Part hobby shop, part toy and holiday shop, with lots of local items. My husband is a train enthusiast and they have *so* many train model making items. The couple who runs the store were very sweet and asked him to send them a picture of what he builds! We could tell they were very kind souls as soon as we spoke to them. Very happy we stopped off at this little gem of a place.

A train buddy of mine recommended this place as a good destination when taking a trip with the wife. He said they had lots of trains, and other things that would appeal to the misses. He was correct on both counts. It took an hour to get here from Albany (actually, a little more because we got lost and our smart phone led us astray) and as we were arriving at lunch time we both hoped that food might have been part of their wares. Sadly, it was not. What we did find was a charming store that seemingly carried everything one could ask for if trapped in a nearby camping area. They had an eclectic selection of nature, history, cooking, an entertainment books; local candles, soaps, and jam; sewing and craft supplies; toys, puzzles, games, and other similar things; car, boat, plane, and R/C plane kits; metal soldiers and castles; chochkes and knickknacks; and they had trains. I took about 45 minutes in the store and believe I saw everything. They didn't excel in one area but had a nice selection of a little bit of everything. Their hardware section was extremely small, and I overheard someone asking for twine which they didn't have (and I thought that was odd). I was hoping to find some old fashioned candy but their sweets selection was limited. I purchased a small soap for my mother but otherwise didn't buy anything except a pastry made nearby at a bakery. But, I came for the trains and they had lots of them. Someone looking for a train set would find a good selection in various scales (N, HO, O, and G) here. Their prices were decent and considering that they were located in the middle of nowhere I think more than fair. Their selection included lots of new, modern trains (meaning, made recently) which surprised me, as well as some old, used trains. They had books, magazines, hats, whistles, and some VHS tapes that likely will be there for eternity. They had a couple of display layouts that hadn't been operated in a while, including one in Z scale which I thought was neat. Sadly, I couldn't find anything I needed. I hate going to a train store, especially one where the proprietor is actually trying to run a nice store, and not buying anything. They had some things that interested me but their prices weren't what I wanted to pay. They had some great prices on things but I didn't need or want them. So, I bought a pastry and left without a train purchase, actually feeling disappointed. It is a cute store. It won't replace the local, well stocked train stores near me but it was a fun destination place. For anyone camping nearby that needed something to keep themselves busy I can imagine this would be a little bit of paradise.

I love country stores and generals stores, especially the ones in upstate NY. You know I had to go to this one. It is pretty big and has a lot of different items. Especially train sets and miniature sets of all sorts. There was a section for different holiday items and homemade soaps as well as candles. I was hoping to get some pickled items and homemade baked goods but I guess not all country stores have that. The lady behind the counter was also very nice!

Awesome place! One of the last of the Mohegan's hanging in there. If you're into old type General Store's or model trains of all scales along with other hobbies well than, this place will blow your mind. It's packed wall to wall floor to ceiling with almost anything and everything you could imagine. It's a playground for kids of all ages even a 40yr old kid at heart. Doug is a very nice, happy to help guy who's been into hobbies all his life and is a wealth of knowledge! They even all kinds of stuff you'd expect to find in an old fashion General store!!! There's even a very cool Lionel train that circles around the ceiling. He also does train repairs of all sorts. But definitely a very cool place even to just be fascinated with all the inventory he's got on the floor.
