If zero stars were possible that's what I would post. Referred to this practice by my orthopedist's office for knee braces, I waited nine weeks before I finally cancelled the relationship. The orthotist was thorough and helpful at my first appointment for measurements, but it rapidly deteriorated after that. Multiple phone calls from me starting four weeks after the measurements to check on prior authorizations and progress were not helpful and resulted in misinformation, no reasonable answers, and at one point, actual lies. I was misquoted out-of-pocket expenses and told that additional documentation was needed from my physician on two occasions. They put that responsibility on the doctor, not their own lack of follow up. I could not speak to the person handling Medicare who turfed my calls to an individual who admitted they were not familiar with Medicare billing. My health care provider intervened after eight weeks and I received a call from the orthotist who assured me he would look into it and call me back. He never did. The "biller" continued to make excuses telling me at one point that my provider "changed the prescription to a less expensive brace". Subsequent to ending this relationship I went to another orthotic provider who fitted me expertly, submitted the claim to Medicare, and sent me home with two knee braces in less than one hour. Perhaps my experience with Bay Orthopedics was highly unusual and a rare occurrence, but I would not recommend them at all. Their lack of customer support and competence is alarming.
