Legend Lampshades has a great selection of good quality lamp shades that are made onsite and not mass-produced. Larry Wong is very friendly, knowledgeable, and was a great help in selecting the best shade for our lamp. If you do not live in the area of the store, it is well worth the drive. They are located on the southeast corner of Route 110 and Jericho Turnpike. I'm glad to see there are still some businesses that are so focused on customer service!!! Bob S.

Very happy. I had no clue how to figure out what size shade goes with my lamps. We are redoing everything and our contractor recommended this place. I will be back. slow down as you are approaching 110 going East on 25a or you'll pass it. Stay in the right lane - it easy to pass by.

My experience at this store was similar to the last reviewer. The owner was very rude, did not help me carry a very large bulky box which I was obviously struggling with and did not take the time to properly evaluate the vintage lights I was trying to get fixed. The outdoor lights were dusty and a bit rusty. He told me “cleaning not my job. You clean at home and bring back”. Then he says “why don’t you just buy new ones at Home Depot” and starts YELLING at me that these lights cannot get wet and have to be under a roof. (Really? I’ve seen tons of unsheltered outdoor lights in my lifetime) Then he glanced at the chandelier, and says “all sockets need to replace $150”. I walked out of the store and vowed to never return. The woman that recommended him said he’d been there 40 years. Well it must be a new owner because I can’t see how this man can stay in business even 40 minutes.

My mom, who is 87, went in to have a lamp repaired. The repair was fast, but $80+ to replace the switch? I feel he took advantage of her. Or maybe I was sad to hear that he was rude and dismissive, and that he didn't even have the decency to carry it out to the car for her. She won't return.

I needed to replace a set of lampshades Larry made me about 20 years ago. I was happy to see he's still in business. He's a genuine guy with a passion for his work, and takes pride in his craft. Walked out with a new set of beautiful handmade shades that l'm sure will last another 20 plus years.

Owner is involved in every sale, and takes great pride in his work--but lampshades here are expensive. He uses only silk if you want a custom shade. And why else would you come here? The best place for fussy folks who know what they want and who value great craftsmanship, but I would prefer a bit of flexibility, cotton and linen, for example. I had a pair of beautiful, custom silk shades for nearly 15 years that we bought at Legend. We could not afford to replace them, so the owner chose less expensive silk shades without the edging and fringe and assured us they would work. They did. Legend's selection does include some less expensive shades in other fabrics but these are standard stuff, although the owner will tell you to bring in your lamp, and you get expert advice no matter what you buy. That's terrific.

Legend lampshades has absolutely stunning lampshades of all sizes and colors. There's so much variety for lights, lamps, and lampshades. Mr. Wong has been doing this for decades now. He is very helpful, knowledgeable and has amazing customer service. Not only does he curate these lampshades by hand, but also fix lights, and take a lot of custom orders!
