If I could give this business no stars I would. The Staff is very rude specifically Paul. Their customer service is garbage. I made an appointment here to get work done in my car back in September & it was my first time with them. I really tried to be open to a new mechanic because I never not once thought "hey these people could be total jackass & tried to get you for your money" but when I tell you I feel so ripped off of these people. I went first here for my break pads & brought in my own oil for my oil change and shortly after getting my car back I started smelling a burning smell off my car through the vents which I communicated with the owner Frank of the business through text and he told me it should go away. Then a week later my key fob got wet which I needed a new key because the computer system of my car wasn't recognizing the key properly. I had my insurance tow truck my car to the shop which took 2 days to get fix because they needed a locksmith person. Prior to this my horn was working perfectly fine but when I got it back the horn was shut off & not working properly. I called a week prior to thanksgiving to let them know I was 1 still having the burning smell from the previous time & 2 my horn is no longer working which both things were fine prior to any work on the car. Every receipt I have been given on the bottom it states that you have a warranty from the work you get done from them for 3 months or 3,000 miles whichever comes first. Unfortunately, this is a complete lie. I brought my car back in so they could look what the burning smell is & why the horn is shut off because it was related with the previous work done to my car as well as getting a inspection done on my car. Soon as I brought my car in the guys were very unwelcoming but I felt I could leave my car with them because they could redeem my warranty since they had done prior work to my car. They did my inspection and charged me "$140 hour of labor for looking at the issues in my car & fixing my horn & saying it was my fault because my bumper has a hole" they also tried to get me to add a "$249 bill for a new battery" & lastly tried to sell me on rotating my tires for "$30" I paid a total of $200 and all I went in for really was an inspection on my car & for them to see what was up with those prior work. Paul had also called me and told me over the phone it was a total of $190 over the phone & to my surprise it was $215 once I got there. I asked for a itemized receipt and his first response was "why?!" Like who wouldn't want to know and understand what they are paying for? Who wouldn't feel ripped off if they went for one thing & you're coming at me with all these different things. I'm sure because I am female in their eyes I must be stupid which unfortunate for you I am not sir but, that isn't a way to treat a customer male or female. He also, got super angry with me when I talked to him about the work prior and how my car was fine prior to & he just kept yelling that he should take my inspection sticker off my car because he passed me even though he shouldn't had & that I need to find a new mechanic. I hope that nobody else has to experience this so I'm writing this review to prevent the next person from this happening to them. I wish I would've looked on yelp or Google first before going to them because apparently this is the behavior they accept and move with. It's crazy they charge $140 per hour of labor and they don't even deserve it! No type of customer service or standing on their word. Thieves! & oh let's not forget the owner is no where to be found. I texted him the day of the incident and I never got a text back.

Never going to find a better example of a hidden gem than family auto in Huntington station NY. They pull off the impossible in that shop time and time again.. These guys have done small jobs for my company like brakes and electrical repairs, dumpBody service etc, to full on class A body work, engine rebuilds and swaps and even some customization. The friendly atmosphere is not the only draw, the knowledge and skill is hard to find. They don’t like to say no and never let one of my autos leave with the right things being done. Never a rush job, never an unnecessary wait. But always the right job at the right price. Look for these guys to keepGrowing and keep retaining happyCustomers like me and my company. We have 100 trucks and these guys not only keep up, they’re our number one and most preferred service vendor out of many. Thank you to Frank and the team for always going above and beyond with our fleet and personal vehicles. Customer for life here.

I went to this business on a recommendation from a good friend. Needed an A/C compressor and inspection. The work was done in a timely fashion ( 3 days ) and the price was fair. Here's the bad part. They put 90 MILES ON MY CAR OVER THE WEEKEND! I always reset my miles whenever I fill my tank. Took my car in with a full tank of gas and left it with this business with 3 miles on the reset odometer. Got my car back with half a tank of gas and 90 miles on the odometer. When I called the owner he gave me some bs story that he himself drove the car and it was 90 miles bc he had to "run diagnostics" for the inspection!! My son works for Ferrari and said they highest end Ferraris are only driven 24 miles for their diagnostics. So if you want your car to be used for a joy ride for the weekend bring it to Family Auto. I would've had more respect had they told me a worker used it and at least reimbursed me for the half tank of gas they used. You just can't trust anyone anymore. Shame on them. I thought I found a good mechanic bc the work was done well and priced fairly. Here's a tip Family Auto... don't bs your customers bc they're not going to come back. Own up to your screw up.

Do not take your car to this shop. It's a complete mess. I don't trust having my vehicle in their care, just look at the place! They try to convince you to change parts that you don't need. Take your vehicle on a test drive when it's only in for an oil change. Appears they run errands with their customers cars. I witnessed the owner cursing out one of his customers. Crazy place. Don't go there. Plenty of reliable clean repair shops in the area.

Watch yourself doing business with this company / owner. If you are reliant on the integrity of their building (ex; concrete, electric, etc...) and have it in writing for products set up at their shop, they will neglect responsibility and create an abusive demeanor to intimidate rather than mediate.

Had been a long time customer but no more. The young kid they hired a few years back is dishonest. Tried to convince me to replace parts in perfect working order. Tried to charge me 3x the going rate for a simple repair. I know a fair amount about car repairs, I'm no rube. Maybe Covid has cut into their business and the way they used to do business has passed. If they continue to act dishonestly, people will figure it out.

I bought a Groupon for $65 for an oil change & NYS inspection. I called around noon for a 4:30 appointment. They were done by 5:10. The man at the desk was very nice and I would definitely go back for an oil change. The entrance is sus and the service inside is trash so wander outside if you can it probably wont take long. I would definitely recommend going to this shop their prices are good and it's always good to support small local businesses.

They are accommodating with their schedule which I appreciate. The person answering the phone took her time with me to give me my appointment. I used them for an oil change and inspection, everything was fast and very satisfactory. They even notified me that there were a lot of recalls for my car and I should take it to the dealer. Overall I'm very happy with my experience and I will be returning in the future.

I have used this place on 2 prior occasions with out incident. I dropped the car off with an intermittent short. They had the car for 2 days and told me it was a short in the alarm and remote start and that it has to be removed. They charged $780 all labor. I should have said something but I didnt. That was a lot to diagnose and remove the alarm. The alarm only cost $300 to install including parts. The work was sloppy, the windshield molding was not put back all the way, wire nuts and connectors were on the floor. I was also told I needed an oil change and rear breaks. The oil only had 1,000 miles on it and the the car had been expected last week and the breaks were fine. The $780 wasnt enough I was being hustled. The negative review comes after I got stuck today. Drove to the store when I got back to the car it had no electrical power at all. When I opened the hood the negative battery terminal was never tightened. NEVER AGAIN. If my wife had been driving the car she would have needed a tow and would have been stranded.
