The staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful. We found this chic little hotel when unexpectedly stuck in the Catskills. The lobby is filled with mind-blowing art, something that put Hudson on the map! Rooms are oddly shaped and heating is definitely a challenge they need to work on. Coffee and flavored water is offered free of charge. An enjoyable stay at an unenjoyable time. Thank you.Rooms: The heating needs an upgrade, cold drafts from the front door made the room uncomfortably cold. The beds were luxurious and inviting. Showers sprayed into the bathroom and made the floor slippery. I worried that the room under us would be experiencing a leak. No view. We stayed there three separate times and each time we had either no view or partial view of the Hudson River. Most views were of a broken-down warehouse.Walkability: Many restaurants and art galleries nearby.

I've stayed at The Wick many times as a bicycle tour guide and every time the staff has been tip top. The rooms are clean and spacious, and bicycle friendly which is a plus since it's on the Empire State Trail. I look forward to our stays.I will add that one of our guests had a complete meltdown recently because a room wasn't quite ready when they arrived. He and his wife wrote terrible reviews which in my mind were uncalled for. The hotel business is struggling since covid, like many other service businesses and sometimes things take a bit longer that usual. ( most of the time rooms are ready, even early )Again, I love The Wick and I enjoy every stay ( 4 or 5 times ea summer ). Super nice staff !It's very close, walkable, to the amtrak station, it's bike friendly, it has a restaurant, and a bar. What more could you ask ?I ❤ The Wick !!Rooms: Clean and spacious with great bathroomsNearby activities: Walkable to the amtrak station, Hudson Brewing, and all the shops n eateries on Warren StreetSafety: No worriesWalkability: One minute walk from the amtrak station

The customer service is terrible. My uncle had to wait over two hours for his room to be ready, finally getting a key at 5 pm. During that time they didn’t offer him anything to drink other than water nor any food. He had just finished a 40 mile bicycle ride and was exhausted. It was disappointing that the personnel behind the desk were very indifferent to him! Such is the case of being a Marriott Bonvoy property

This hotel falsely advertises having “in room air conditioning” the AC and heat actually turns off when you stop moving! There is a little motion sensor on the climate controls, after you don’t move for about 15 min, you’ll hear a click and it will turn off. So while you sleep your room gets hotter and hotter or colder and colder! You don’t get what you pay for and shouldn’t stay here! It’s literally a scam! The staff knows this too, they got extremely hostile when I brought it up and asked for a partial refund and began to threaten me, so I left. I am taking the matter up with Marriott corporate about the embarrassment that this hotel represents

This former candle factory (hence the name) is owned by a fancy chain, and it shows: comfortable, clean rooms, two-person shower and quiet -- except for the AMTRAK whistle blowing -- the Hudson train station is a block away -- which stopped by 11 pm, and started again, hourly, in the morning. It was not a deal-breaker. Free parking, great staff, good breakfast (not included) -- even for a Gluten-free diner. Full bar open late. Within walking distance of a number of very good restaurants. We'd stay here again.

I've read some rather unfavorable reviews for this hotel and so I was not expecting such a wonderful experience. My room was on the second floor and was very clean , great lighting and a beautiful bathroom (also with great lighting).. The WIFI worked well and the bed was comfortable. The person I travelled with was "in the basement" but her room was very spacious and had light from high windows. She too was pleased.
I did experience frustration with the breakfast...coffee unavailable for quite a while, slow service. But I saw the issue! They are very understaffed. And the people who are working are doing more than one job! The reception desk had to cover part of the food service as well as being valet and helping with the housekeeping. I realize this is a problem nationwide, but these employees are doing all they can and still being pleasant and helpful to guests. I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely stay again if in the area.

Cool spot with really nice rooms but you’re locked out of the A/C and the rooms get very hot. As others mentioned, make sure you research the town before you come here. There are some phenomenal restaurants but most are only open Thursday through Sunday. Also really bad communication here. I did a 3pm checkout, had do not disturb on my door and housekeeping came bursting in twice at 1pm.I’ve stayed here about 20+ times but not sure if I’ll be back.

Really underwhelming property with basically no amenities. Location is in a run down area which is not really convenient to Warren St. The service was slow and unwelcoming. Food at the restaurant was uninspired and had nothing to reflect the local area. Rooms were decently comfortable but without a doubt our least favorite tribute portfolio properties we have been to.

It all depends on what you pay. The company's surge pricing is ridiculous. If you pay $250 a night for a room then it is more than worth it. It's a nice, relatively new and comfortable property with ample parking. It is also close to the train and a short walk to the center of town. But when the same room is listed at $1000 a week before then I'd recommend making reservations at the many other perfectly comfortable options in Hudson or if you have a car on the other side of the river.

Quiet, comfortable getaway. I loved the quirky transformation of the factory into rooms. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. There was plenty of parking. It was within walking distance of some restaurants and a riverfront park.

Stayed here 2 nights. Nothing special. Seemed a bit overpriced for what you get. Rooms were clean but could hear neighbors snore at night. Room was in the basement so no view, but I don’t think there was much to look at anyway. Didn’t eat at the restaurant and they ran out of self serve coffee in the morning.

The hotel is a unique historic property that used to be a candle making factory (hence the name!) and you can see patents down the halls, so cool! The rooms are spacious and while some guests do not appreciate the historic aspect and expect a cookie-cutter Marriott, this is an experience outside the norm in the very best way. Staff is wonderful and is always ready to assist in any way they can.Edit: great location for anyone visiting from the city, a half a block from the amtrak station and 2 blocks from the hub of town, Warren street!

DO NOT STAY HERE! Their ground level rooms have no windows, and you will be hearing chairs dragging, heavy objects falling, constant footsteps until VERY LATE AT NIGH, 2AM and only to START AGAIN AT 5AM!I asked to move rooms and the person on the front. desk told me they were sold out, although their website still had rooms open to book? The bathroom had urine stains on the door (hoping that was from a pet not human, see pictures)In the morning I asked for a refund because there is no way my room should be rentable, the noise is out of control. The lady at the desk was very nice and told me she could only offer a 20% refund and points. I said ok, I got the a few points but never the refund. That same day, I emailed Marriott to share about my stay and ask for a full refund, they followed up with an email the hotel would get back to me, I have now sent three email follow ups and no one has responded to me.DO NOT STAY THERE, AND BE AWARE OF MARRIOTT, they clearly don't care about customer service.

This hotel has potential to be great, but unfortunately it’s run by incompetent staff that doesn’t care. This hotel was ridiculously overpriced for what we got. Bathroom was dirty from prior guests, tv wasn’t working, food was not great either. Hotel management was not helpful in trying to resolve my complaints and doesn’t want to come to an agreeable agreement. Save your money and stay at the Fairfield inn instead. It’ll be a much better bang for your buck. People here were jerks.
