I brought my car in for a flat tire only. Dropped off: 07/02, picked up on: 07/03 @~5:00PM. When I came to pick it up - My car battery died, and Tom had to jump start it. Didn’t think much of it to thoroughly inspect my car. He told me to drive around for 20ish minutes. When I got home, I noticed that my car door made a cracked noise when I opened it. Then I saw a big dent at the bottom, with 2 marks (seen in pictures). When I tried to call, the shop was already closed. And it was closed on 07/04, but we left a message in regards.
Come 07/05/24, we bring the car in first thing in the morning - Tom’s inspecting the car. He’s opening and slamming it, stating “it closes fine.” That isn’t the issue, my car came in with no dents or damages with my driver side door, and now it’s hard to open and close, that it needs to be slammed to close it - and when driving, it’ll alert saying door open. IF there was an issue prior, obviously I would’ve had them look into it?? While he was inspecting, some worker just barged into the conversation stating “It came like that, it came like that when I worked on it.” - didn’t even ask what was the matter first, just guiltily stating it was like that. Tom and the guy just said “I don’t know, let’s go.” And left us sitting in the car for 10-15 mins, waiting if they were going to come back. But then they continued working on another car. We drove home.
I had my dad call Tom, he was upset that Tom didn’t even look into the matter, didn’t even properly inspect, as we’ve been going to them for years. Tom even had the audacity to say that we just left. The damages and the way the car is indented in looks like it was mishandled when the machine is lifting the car up for the tire change.
Update: 07/08/24 - My dad brought the car in, and Tom still didn’t even properly inspect the car. Just dismissing saying it’s not his problem.
I would give this place Negative to Zero stars if I could.

I've been to Toms a few times for both basic maintenance and specialized AC work (VW Jetta with 125k+ miles), this is an honest quality auto shop that I trust taking my car to, Tom works with you on a personal level that probably no other mechanic does and this made me feel confident in him, he explained his thinking and reasoning well and most importantly accurately. He answered all my questions, was very kind, and professional. He's a good guy and from my experience has absolutely no problem working WITH you, no matter the questions or concerns you may have, he really does listen to you. Props to Tom for being a good person and a good mechanic, he cares about his customers. Great place, this is now my go to auto shop

I have been going to Tom's brakes for years with all my vehicles. Tom is extremely fair in price, knowable in automotive issues, quick service, truthful, accommodating and a nice guy. I highly recommend his shop to anyone!

I can’t recommend this place any longer. I’m pretty sure I previously gave it a 5 star review a couple of years ago. I went in for inspection and oil change. I explicitly told them I needed new front tires and if I could wait maybe next year for the rear. I dropped it off then got a call like 4 hours later the car was done. They never looked at the front tires but still passed me, also my wipers are totally shot. They passed me and basically did no inspection. So I had to go to mavis waste hours getting new tires and now had to order wipers and install myself. This is the last chance because last year they put on new brakes never told me about a debit card charge and stuck me with like $40 in their fees

I went to Tom's Brakes because I heard a lot of squeaking on my car. He told me that they didn't need replacement; it was pretty new, and they just needed time to break in. He's the most honest mechanic I have ever met.

Nice understanding owner. Came here after being denied by West John auto who was too busy to help repair busted tail lights to dismiss a fix-it ticket. West John Auto reviews probably many fakes.Tom's fixed me up within a few hours with reasonable pricing. Definitely reccomend coming here.Not sure if Rosemary is his wife but she was at the office front and even offered to give me a ride to work 5 minutes away in the morning when I dropped off the car for repairs. So overall nice people. Which is a pleasure with most mechanics being less than friendly knowing most of the time customers come desperate.

I've been going to Tom for 20 years. He is the most honest, patient, and trustworthy mechanic I've ever seen. He always goes the extra mile to explain the process and give options.
