Never returning, for several reasons. You ask for a specific weight of feta or olives and they give you half a pound more, and if you repeat the amount you actually wanted and asked for, the owner gets annoyed and makes a sarcastic comment. Second, NO gloves are used and no hand washing! Their bare hands are dipped directly into the brine of the feta. When calling them out on this, the owner and his wife got very angry and showed me a bucket filled with bleach and soap that he dips his hand into and wipes on a rag. He directly said he can't change gloves every 10 seconds. When asking where his sink is, there was no answer. He could not understand that even if he were to wash his hands, he is NOT allowed to touch food with his bare hands. His wife asked me " who ever died from eating food from a grocery store?"OMG! How disgusting and unsanitary! Department of Health should pay a visit because I am sure there are more not so obvious things going on behind the counter.

This place is awesome!! I’m not Greek, but I love the food, this guy takes it to another level. Everything he has is home made besides all the imported Greek products but he explains everything to me and teaches me about the food and what’s healthy, what’s not, and he just is an incredibly great human being.

Shopped at Bakaliko this morning and it was superb. Such a friendly, caring atmosphere. While I was shopping two separate customers stopped in to get coffees on their way to work. The owner George knew them by name, and gladly filled up their reusable coffee mugs. Despite the small size of the store, it was packed with everything I needed and more. From huge Kalamata olives to Greek feta, filo dough, a variety of different pitas, Greek oregano and those scrumptious dips, it is a treasure trove of Greek ingredients. The Greek desserts looked delicious and this shop smelled heavenly. The service there was spot on. George and his sister let me wander around and browse as much as I wanted. When I needed help, they were there for me with excellent suggestions. This shop is not close to where I live, but it is a worthwhile trip.

The worst experience EVER. Unprofessional, beyond rude, and no knowledge of customer service. The the old man behind the counter was beyond rude when I was surprised at the price of pita bread ($4.50). His reply was "as long as there's a war in Ukraine" the prices are high and will continue to go up". My reply was what does the war in Ukraine have to do with your prices?" We're not in Europe and we don't import our flour from Russia. Then he continued challenged me that bread is not considered zymariko". When he realized I was right he took the pita bread back-like a child. Sir, you're in the customer service business learn to act accordingly. I'll take my business elsewhere. Thank you for you unprofessionalism, shows what kind of businessman you are, no matter how long your store has been open. Other international food stores are opening up around you!

The real deal. Looking for authentic Greek food and groceries, you have to go here now. Love going here to get our pita bread, feta, olives and tahini to name a few items. And the owners are so friendly!!

Best store in Long Island for everything Greek. The owner, George is very knowledgeable and helpful. Impossible to leave without buying something.
