Went it with my friend for a few hours and there was this creepy older Hispanic man that kept eyeing us. Even another customer realized this and confronted him and he denied it. Young women stray away

Prices are no longer affordable. Crazy prices on used items. You would be able to get a lot of items cheaper new. It's no longer worth it shop here. Save yourself a trip and go elsewhere.

Saw this sign plastered all over The Salvation Army in Elmont a decided to go thrifting that day to take advantage of the discounts on "ALL" Clothing.. We get to the register to check out and the cashier tells is that our items are not 50% off...Of course I questioned him because the signs clearly state that "ALL" clothing is 50% off.... His response to me was rudely telling me "You don't have to buy it'Of course I don't have to buy anything from this shop but being that I took MY time to travel to this shop to spend MY money YOU are doing me no favors when you clearly and knowingly false advertise your merchandise and top it off with rude, poor customer service!

Put out perfectly fine hutch, chairs, bench etc for truck pick up. Took a bag of clothes and a handicap seat for shower. Left everything. Last time they didn't even show up and I had my closing walk thru the next day. Don't bother calling them. It's a shame because it's hard to get rid of big furniture and I know people could have utilized it. Fool me once...

I normally don't go out of my way to right reviews, but beware. We called a month ago to donate a dining room table, and six chairs. our schedule pick up was supposed to be today. Let me tell you how un professional this company is. I was cleaning my room, and saw two guys outside looking at the table and chairs. they did not even tell us they were there. I walked outside to confirm they were here for the dining room set. But they were found in the truck, ready to drive off. I asked them are they here to pick up the table, they told me no. I asked Why? They said, because you had a couple of scratches on the dining room table. I asked them to please hold on a second so I can get my father, to inform him on the situation. As I went to grab my father they started driving away. Thank god we live on a coldasact so they would have to see us again. The driver told my father, we cant take it because of the scratches. The driver also told us it would cost them more money to fix the scratches. And this brings me back to a month ago scheduling for the pick up. why didn't they tell us there has to be no scratches. ANd it wasn't like the scratches were terrible. So know instead of donating to there scam of a company, the furniture will be thrown out. We tried calling a few times but no response. Please do not donate to them. There are better places to donate to.

BEWARE - Major Security Risks Here! WARNING: Home Pickups Are Performed by Employees From: "The Salvation Army Hempstead Adult Rehabilitation Center" See Section "F" Below!!! BACKGROUND; Our experience with pickups from this outlet were problematic for the following serious reasons. You must reconsider using them! (See Section "F") A. HIGH SAFETY RISKS AND TAX IRREGULARITIES Their Rude Employees and Suspicious Practices may be dangerous to your health - as the company sends employees to your home from The Salvation Army Hempstead Adult Rehabilitation Center (See F below) In addition, their business practices appear irregular and subject to Investigation and Enforcement actions by the: a) NY State Attorney General's Office b) Internal Revenue Service, and c) NY State Department of Taxation & Finance. (See D Below) B. WE AGREE WITH OTHER NEGATIVE YELP REVIEWS: 1) We are in agreement with the other YELP reviews highlighting "rude and belligerent" employees as noted by the following YELP reviewers as follows: Mark C. says they are a "hate organization); Tom M calls their employees "_-holes"; and Ambrosia W calls them "unprofessional" 2) In addition, reviews written by others highlight their employee's refusal to pick up goods that are of good condition and providing poor communication - thereby wasting your efforts to donate to this organization. For example see the reviews by: Monica B; Andy P; Paul N; JS V; and Ambrosia W. 3) Management should take note of the identical complaints listed in these YELP reviewer's comments (following this one) and seek immediate remediation of these issues. Likewise, you should take note not to use this organization in the future! C. WASTED OUR TIME: Prior to booking a pickup at our home we took the time and effort to properly label our furniture and household items. These were good items that were almost like new - and they had been pre-approved items according to the Salvation Army website "satruck.org". All for naught! (see next) D. FRAUDULENT PICKUP PRACTICES: The Salvation Army employees who showed up left us a receipt indicating they had pickup up our items - but in fact - they left them at our home where they had been originally placed. What?!? Now either these guys defrauded their company by indicating there was a pickup - and had a bite to eat instead........or they defrauded the US government by leaving us a fraudulent tax deductible contribution receipt! Or both! Either way - Not good! These business practices appear irregular and subject to Investigation and Enforcement actions by the: a) NY State Attorney General's Office b) Internal Revenue Service, and c) NY State Department of Taxation & Finance. E. RUDE DISPATCH MANAGEMENT: Upon calling the Hempstead Dispatch Manager. I was met with rude problematic responses. The dispatch manager (name redacted) answered our call and he was very rude....disregarding the fraudulent contribution (tax) receipt issue .....and....indicating that our goods did not meet their specifications.....sound familiar? (i.e., same problem that other YELP reviewers had - see B-2 above). Regrettably, ...I am not including the dispatch manager's name here for fear of retaliation (see F below). When I again asked why his men left a receipt indicating they picked up our items but then left them there - He became hostile and indicated, as follows "what do you want me to say to you - thank you for donating your garbage!" Then he hung up on me! Nice respectable guy??? Guess again! (now... See F below). F. WHO ARE THESE GUYS?!? Upon complaining to senior management (see G below) - I was educated about the nature of the men showing up to our door! They are dispatched from the THE SALVATION ARMY HEMPSTEAD ADULT REHABILITATION CENTER. Unfortunately, these men are "struggling with drugs and alcohol ...and (ne

There is NOTHING of interest at this store (I thrift to resell and have never found anything of value in maybe a dozen trips) not to mention that you're still contributing to a hate organization when you shop and donate here. Save yourself the trouble and go up the street to Savers- donations there go to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of LI, and there's always something worth getting.

Awesome I mostly shop on Wednesday half off. Worth the travel for me from Queens but you have to go early shopping carts are limited since the workers use most of them. Many items new with tags some are overpriced but overall there is something for everyone

What a bunch of a-holes. Pardon the French, but they are. I booked a reservation 2 weeks out for them to pick up furniture that was all in very good condition. This was mandatory for a move I am making, downsizing from a house to an apartment. When I spoke to the dispatcher 2 weeks ago, we went over the list of items. The items I was donating were large: a queen sized bed frame, a dining room table, and a sofa. The dispatcher said all was good. Then these jerks come over to pick the items up, and they tell me that they can't take the bed or the dining room table as they are "too big". They said as far as a bed frame, they only take small items like a headboard. The dining room table was not as a set (no chairs going) so they tell me they can only take a complete dinette set with chairs and not just the table separately. Why couldn't the a****** moron dispatcher have told me that ahead of time, or at least ask me more detailed questions (which is his job), instead of saying that they will take all my items as long as they weren't "gas powered"? I would have made other arrangements. Now my move is in 3 days, and I have to add these items to put in Public Storage and this will considerably up the cost of the moving expenses , for these additional items. Moving is stressful as it is, without assholes like this making it 10x worse. I had to scramble, ask a neighbor if thy wanted the furniture, (she didn't) . I called 2 other charity organizations who said I am calling too late. The Salvation Army in Hempstead is a bunch of F--NG MORONS The Salvation Army SUCKS and they should EAT S--T since they have S--T FOR BRAINS and could care less what crap they tell people. You try to be nice and do the right thing and donate to charity and this is the b******* I get.
