didn’t let me adopt a kitten because they told me my cat that i have now is an outdoor cat and they don’t want their kittens outdoor but my whole plan was to keep the kitten as an indoor cat, the girl that was at the front desk didn’t tell us nothing about that and had us fill out the application ,just to get disappointed

We adopted a kitten from here. Even though it's a small 6 was clean, well kept, and animals seem well cared for. The kitten is healthy and active. Since it's a small shelter, they don't have a big shop , so if you're going to pick up an animal, remember to bring a carrier or leash.

My daughter saw the yellow lab puppy Dex on the website. I went to see the dog on Friday and walked him. I was told that I had first choice in adopting the dog. The recommended that the whole family visit to make sure everyone was "On Board" I told them everyone was working on Friday and asked if we could come on Saturday and they gave me a time 1 pm. I had called twice and left a message about changing the day to Sunday because that was the only day my daughter had off. They finally called back at 11:30 am today and told me Dex had been adopted. They said they gave him away to somewhere else because I have a cat which they knew of before and had given me first dibs on adopting Dex. I guess they are selective in their adoption choices.

They took great care of my dog Cali. Their prices for Spay and Neuteuring cannot be beat. Their facility is clean and their staff was wonderful! $200 Spay for dogs under 20lbs. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Went there to donate some weewee pads and was greeted with such gratitude and kindness. We were invited to meet the bunnies and there was several employees/volunteers around cleaning, socializing animals and just so friendly and welcoming. The environment was clean, quiet and very comfortable. I had the opportunity to meet one of the "residents" there too who was beautiful, sweet and just such a love. Her handler was knowledgeable and very affectionate and sweet with her. Not too many shelters are filled with people who genuinely care the way the crew at SHAS seems too. Very well done and I highly recommend anyone looking to adopt a pet visit there. If you aren't looking to adopt, please consider making a small donation to keep this wonderful shelter going and caring for their residents the way they do. God bless you all ❤️

I recently adopted two kittens - one on September 8th and one on Sept 24. As noted on my adoption application, I already had a cat and two dogs at home when bringing these new kittens home. Upon taking the first cat home, I was told that he should get a fecal because he could have giardia but that he is likely fine and it would just be a precaution. I was never warned about worms or anything like that, nor was I advised that he should be kept separate and have his own litter box until a fecal was performed. When I took the second kitten home, the same advice. Again, no warning or indication that these two kittens could be infested with worms or that they were being sent home with me potentially having contagious, transmissible, communicable diseases. Well -- turns out that the first kitten does indeed have worms. Not just roundworms, but hookworms as well -- worms that are also transmissible to dogs, of which two are in my home. This means that I now have to test and treat 2 other cats and 2 dogs to see if they have caught the worms. The cost of that? $70 per pet per office visit, $55 per pet per fecal test, $9 per pet for medical waste fees. This does not even include the costs of treatment. If I forgo the vet and just buy panacur for all of them online, that's still almost $100 in deworming meds. These are expenses I do not want and should not have had. I understand kittens can have worms, especially coming from a shelter environment. However, if you are not testing for worms before sending animals home, you need to be letting adopters know the risks and that they should be isolating their kittens from other animals, cats especially, until a fecal and be performed and the cat can be cleared. Having over $500 in vet fees for my other animals because I was given a sick kitten is not acceptable. Having to pay $100+ in treatments for my other animals because I was given a sick kitten is not acceptable. The way I feel right now, I am not even sure I want to keep these kittens. Not once was I told that there was a risk that he would be infested with worms that are transmissible to the other animals already in my home. Not once was I told he should be kept isolated or separated from other cats until a fecal was performed. Not once was I told that he should be dewormed every 3-4 weeks. And as for the shelters reply on Google as to how "the kittens were up to date on their vaccinations." This has nothing to due with their vaccinations. You choose not to fecal test kittens - fine. It is absolutely negligence to not let adopters know that the kittens should be kept separate from other animals until a fecal test is performed and checked for parasites. Funny thing is, they are fully aware of this. The reply from their clinic: "Often we do not run fecal tests for kittens as at that age, as they almost all have worms. We routinely deworm them when they are here at the shelter, and Mighty was last dewormed here on September 7th. As kittens, they need to be dewormed every 3-4 weeks until they are 4 months old. He may continue to be positive until multiple rounds of deworming have been completed. The treatments he has been given are all recorded on his medical history."Why was this information not provided at adoption? Why was I not told that he almost positively had worms? Why was I not told that he had to be dewormed every three weeks until 4 months old? Why was I not told he could be positive for worms until several courses of dewormer and to isolate him from other cats until then? No where on his medical records is this information either. One would expect if they're being handed a kitten and told they're fine and can immediately go mingle with other cats, there isn't a risk of said kitten passing parasites to the other animals. An issue that will now cost me hundreds of dollars to treat.

Staff is rude and not helpful. Tried to follow up on an application, which they never even processed or bothered to look at. I am 100% supportive of what shelters do, but this one is completely selective on who they choose to follow through with. I met all their requirements, they never even bothered to follow up with me and when I came in to visit in person they said they did when I never got a call or email… complete waste of time, I’m sure there are better shelters out there with more professional staff..

I always said wonderful things to say about them but it has gone downhill fast. Staff loses records; mixes up dates; my little babies went in for a dental cleaning and the paperwork that came back is completely wrong. They said they took out 5 teeth and both uppers and lowers were taken out without mentioning it. God knows how many teeth they pulled because whoever was working with my dogs didnt reflect the paperwork I went home with. They lost my dogs records; messed up surgery dates I deeply regret I didn't pick up on the red flags. My little dogs were butchered. Rotating staff; bad record keeping. It's heartbreaking to come home with paperwork that is inaccurate of what they did. I will never use them again. I would have preferred to spend any amount of money to not be in the situation I'm in now.

My kitten got Neutered today. It was quick & everything went well. The price was very reasonable compare to other Vet clinics in my area. All the staff were nice, professional & good communication. Thank you Southampton Animal Shelter.

I love this shelter, my family has adopted 3 cats from here over the years. The animals are well cared for and the people working the shelter are so nice and helpful. They gave us some of greatest friends and we will always be grateful to them.
