I decided to go to Kolson to look for knobs and door hardware despite some negative past reviews of it. I’m really glad i did. They have a large selection of knobs, doorknobs, faucets, etc, so there were many great options for me. The sales associates, Jay and Bill, were both very nice and so helpful. They spent a lot of time with me and answered all of my questions (i had a lot of them). I highly recommend this place based on the good experience i had.

I came in to look for new kitchen cabinet handles and knobs and to browse since I had never been there before.The man who came over to help me did not let me speak he just kept talking and talking over everything I was saying, nonstop.After awhile it was hard to even concentrate on what he was saying. It was a very unpleasant experience and I cut him short and left disappointed. I came in looking forward to getting something new and left as quickly as I could.I would like to say that the store was beautiful and had so many different handles I wish I could have looked around I might have ended up choosing something completely different than what I originally had in mind.

Parking is easy. When you walk in, you are met with a huge selection of doorknobs...etc. my husband and I were looking for a door knocker (we needed something immediately) and asked for help. The store clerk who was behind the desk was very rude.No greeting.... he stood there, ignoring our existence for as long as he could. We said excuse me and he turns around until we were forced to walk away. So awkward. When he came back, we walked up to him again and asked for assistance.Finally he said something useful.The only reason why I gave an extra star was because of the second person who helped us. He was much more cordial. It was just too bad they had a small selection, things that were discontinued…..etc. We didn't have a spending limit either. Anyways, we found exactly what we needed/ wanted elsewhere.

SHOPPERS BEWARE OF TRICKY RESTOCKING FEES!Today 10/18/2021, my wife went into Kolson to look for knobs and handles for our kitchen cabinets.She found something she liked, with tax and all it would be over $500.+ She was told it would take 2 weeks to get delivered.My wife asked, if when we get them she puts them up to the cabinets and does not like the look, can she return them? She was told there would be a 25% restocking fee? That adds up to about $133. Is this place crazy?She didn't want to take that chance, just in case we don't like the look on the cabinets, she asked, can I buy just one now and if I like the look, I will call and order the rest?She was told they have NOTHING to sell her?What kind of a ripoff shop is this?She just left, empty handed, we WILL find something elsewhere, that's for sure!

First - the positive. This showroom has many door knobs and related hardware on display. You can see various brands and get a good look and feel of the hardware before purchase. In terms of service, you're at the right place if you want single yes or no answers. Staff members are snobby and offer zero help or interest to do business. In summary - use this showroom to see what you really want and buy the hardware else where!! Below is a dialogue I'd with them if you're interested: Me: Hi, is there a line to get some help (as there were a few people at the store on a Saturday afternoon) Staff (man with grey hair to his neck): Yeah Me: I've a privacy lock I think it is an old Baldwin (showed it) Staff: No. Me: Right. I'm not sure if it is an old Baldwin. Do you happen to have anything similar at the store as I'm trying to match it? Staff: No.

Great selection of door hardware, knobs and pulls. Upstairs has loads of faucets and bath hardware. Was helped but felt like I was bothering them asking questions.

In a measure to determine whether the store had the ability to source an item of interest, we called prior to driving out to Great Neck from the city. After noting that we were lookingfor an aged brass single hole faucet, we explained that we needed a rather quick time frame. The representative named Dale became instantly annoyed. When asked whether she could provide a best case / worse case scenario, she became brash and stated “I don’t know it depends on the vendor. Needless to say, we will not be visiting or purchasing from this store. A phone call can go along way and this could have been the beginning of several purchases - as we are renovating two family properties. The next time someone calls in, it may behoove Kolson’s representatives to be more receptive to answering simple questions. There is an old adage “ it is not what you say but how you say it.”

Went for bathroom sink faucet replacement part. Staff person asked me what I was looking for and when I told him he said he doesn't have the part, well that may be so but he said he never carried the faucet. Apparently this company didn't have any problem selling me the very expensive overpriced faucet years ago. Will never go back and never recommend, many other plumbing suppliers out there including online sales. Don't waste your time...
