Would leave a 1 if possible. My friend found a cat in the middle of the road last night clearly blind and abandoned. I suggested she bring it here as it is a no kill shelter....the woman working accepted the cat AND CALLED THE COPS. She didn't tell my friend since she found the cat it is her responsibility. She is now also trying to make my friend who's never owned a cat and does not have the facilities to do so. ( She owns two dogs) So now my friend is being threatened with animal abandonment because she thought finding a stray and dropping it off here would be a good thing. ITS TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE. Also if this is the kind of attitude you have towards accepting strays maybe you shouldn't consider yourself an animal advocate at all

Awful people who run this place. No compassion, no empathy. Very dissapointed in some of the staff.

Unfortunately, I need to leave a negative comment because of how unprofessional one of the workers were to me during the screening process for adopting a cat. (I don’t remember their name). I was on the phone with a worker about adoption and 5 minutes into the conversation I mentioned how I wanted to make sure my partner I live with does not have any significant allergies towards the Cat during the meet and greet process. Right away the women tells me she doesn’t feel comfortable allowing me to adopt the cat even though I explained to her my partner has minor allergies to long hair cats, which is why we were looking into a short haired cat. The women would not even let me finish the screening process and told me to go to an animal shelter instead as her cats were not in need of placement right away. The whole interaction with her was very strange and unprofessional as I was looking to provide a permanent home to a foster cat and was turned down right away. I know many people who have allergies towards different kinds of cat fur and can deal better with short haired cats rather than longer haired cats. I certainly would not recommend this place to anyone after how judgement and rude the worker was.

We adopted our first kitty and just knew with our experience we were going to go back. A couple months of working with him we decided to go and adopt his sister. The staff remembered us and again were super friendly and transparent. We even found that both of our babies came from the same site! They make calls to see how things are going and if we ever need anything they are always willing to help!

I called this place in October 2023 to volunteer. I received a phone call to discuss how I could help, we spoke briefly and she said she would call back, but she never did. Several attempts to call again met with voicemail. I tried email, but was told to call them, but then never answered. I did receive this email, but no follow up, and no phone answering. "I apologize for the delay in getting back to you - it has been very busy around our adoption center these past few weeks!I spoke with our rescue coordinator, who oversees the maintenance and feeding of our cat colonies, and she said that right now, she is in need of help trapping cats in the Warrensburg area.Would you possibly be interested in assisting her in Warrensburg? I know there is also a site in Hudson Falls that she may need help feeding, if you would prefer something closer to home. Please let me know your thoughts!"I responded to the email, saying I have a havaheart trap and asking where to meet, but no one ever contacted me again. I offered to help trap feral cats for TNR, set up shelters and feed them, or to just clean cages and offer the animals love and attention. Why don't they want people to clean up and feed and love the animals for no pay? They seem to respond, but really they don't. Don't they want people to know what they are doing? There are terrible reviews of their other location. Now you cannot even go there without an appointment. I emailed for an appointment with no response. I urge anyone reading this review to volunteer and see if they can help to care for and feed the animals and see what is actually happening there. See if you can get a response. Animal shelters do not appear to have any outside oversight, even when the public is allowed entry.

I love anyone who loves animals so I guess that makes me bias. Nothing but good things to say. Selflessness goes a long way.

We applied to four different shelters. Three had kitties in cages at the pet stores, and one was online, Adirondack Region Cat Adoption Center. Brooke responded within a couple of days, and our application was easily approved, and we were there meeting cats within a week of applying. The other three shelters didn't even bother with a response (maybe covid was at fault, but we'll never know). The center is a converted house, each room has a storm door to keep groups of cats separated, so you can meet a few at a time without being overwhelmed. Our kitty found us, and he took us home that day. The staff were very thorough, giving us all the paperwork the had from the beginning, so we had his entire weight history, medications, etc. This made the transition to our vet painless.
