I really shouldn't be giving a holocaust museum an adequate review but my experience was less than ideal, beginning with the person at the front desk who weirdly said "Enjoy" after taking my payment. I thought there would be more artifacts displayed rather than photos with captions. The slides where you had to read the text advanced way too fast; I had to wait for the slides to come around again to read them, and then gave up trying. The audio for the 4 videos could not be heard. The exhibit about the children of the Holocaust was blocked by carts, and my experience was interrupted by what seemed to be student volunteers moving carts around me and talking. There were no docents to guide me. I didn't know there was a children's garden until I just read other reviews. Also, just to let people know, in order to get to this museum, you have to drive down a narrow road through the woods, and I was worried that I was going to the wrong place. But not to be too negative, there were some historical facts I learned that I did not know.

My family and I went to the Holocaust Museum today and all 3 of us enjoyed our visit there. My husband and son love 20th century history and the Holocaust Era and WWII are both their favorite segment of history. They are both extremely engrossed in WWII and what happened to the Jews in the Holocaust. We had a nice day spent at the museum and the staff was great. After the museum we went outside to their beautiful gardens. The museum is off the beaten path, but if you put thr address into Google or your car's navigation system it will take you there without mess up. Take the time out and visit.

The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center is located in the north shore of Nassau County, Glen Cove. The museum offers exhibits that teach folks history of the Holocaust and the lessons we learn and dangers of "antisemitism, racism, bullying, and all manifestations of intolerance."The adjacent Children's Memorial Garden is beautifully kept and is dedicated to the children that perished during WWII and those children who were lost during the Holocaust.

I didn't go inside the building, but the children's garden/ the garden itself was phenomenal. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone. Beyond touching quotes (and small bios) from some phenomenal humans that were perished. All the senses are attuned here.In love with the garden, can stay here all day. So much nature and life. So many butterflies and rabbits, highly recommend.Met some of the staff here, who are dedicated to helping people learn more about the Holocaust and what led to the Holocaust. The staff at the center are very knowledgable.

This review is for Welwyn Preserve and Holocaust museum grounds. Excellent garden with thoughtful inscriptions. Paths lead to Long Island sound, beautiful any time of the year. Nice quiet trails at preserve.

This museum offers many programs. The director was very approachable and offered to customize a visit for my students. The Children's Garden is lovely.

One of my favorite trails/hikes close to the city. So serene. You get a chance to be engulfed in trees and then a beautiful surprise beach at the end. So worth the hour drive from Brooklyn. I suggest everyone go!!!

This place is falling apart! It is appalling how they have allowed the grounds to be overrun by weeds and vine, the adjacent structures are falling apart and there are human feces complete with toilet paper all along the path leading to the beach. And fishing hooks and lures on the ground just waiting to poke your feet. Empty beer bottles and garbage everywhere along the beach not to mention graffiti. It's paradise if you happen to be a derelict looking for a place to crash.Shame on the people in charge of caring for this property.
