Did not even get to the point of scheduling a consult because whomever is answering the phone or manning the front desk at this clinic is dense at best or utilizing weaponized incompetence at worst.
I called the get a ballpark estimate for a small surgery for a removal of a 2-3mm small bump that I could not afford to have done at my regular vet in the city. I have blood work and a full breakdown of what needs to be done itemized already with cost estimates at my normal vet, so I was simply calling to get an idea of what that would cost here so I could determine if it was feasible to take him in for a consultation and then for the minor surgery, which has already been determined to be feasible under local anesthesia and sedation.
The woman at the front desk was simply impossible. First, she said that I would need to come in for a consult first at $85. I asked simply for a ballpark estimate of what a procedure like this would cost and explained what was on the itemized list I already had from my regular vet to determine rough pricing, so that I could make an informed decision as to whether a consultation here was wise. She just repeated the same thing over again. I had to explain to her that I was calling around for estimates so I could make an informed decision and it would be counterproductive for me to subject my cat and my wallet to consults at 5 different places simply to get prices. I had already called a number of clinics before calling this one and getting an estimate was a problem for exactly none of them. Everyone got me a quick and reasonable estimate, and explained that I would need to book a consult before the surgery, but they can provide me with an estimated cost of the surgery based on the information I already had so that I could decide. Not the case here at ALL.
This woman spent at least a minute arguing with me as if I was stupid, and had not already received multiple estimates from multiple nearby clinics, acting as though the request in itself was unreasonable. She then told me the procedure was going to be between $1,100-3,000 - a range more than double the cost of all of my other estimates, including our local boutique vet in the heart of the Upper West Side in Manhattan, with exorbitantly high overhead costs!
Any person with a shred of sense would know this could y possibly be the case, however if I was not as informed, I would’ve hung up then and there and never inquired at or recommended this clinic again. Instead, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and read out the handful of services I was looking for a total estimate for. She then, with an attitude, very slowly went line by line, and gave an individual cost for each service at a snail’s pace, as if I was supposed to write them all down and calculate them myself - isn’t it YOUR job to just calculate a rough estimate? Because this was not even remotely a discussion at literally any other clinic I’ve spoken to.
At that point, I decided speaking with this person was an unproductive use of my time, so I asked if I could leave my number and have a doctor call me back in hopes of speaking to a professional with familiarity with the procedure and costs, and (not that I told her this at the time, as I am still unwavering pleasant to those who make their unwillingness to work the client’s problem) to assess if everyone at this clinic behaved in such an inconvenient and unwelcoming manner. If the front desk’s attitude is indicative of how a provider runs their practice, I wouldn’t want to give my business to such a provider anyway.
Well, we didn’t even get that far as she declined to notify the doctor or take my information for a provider to call and discuss. At that point, I determined this to be a massive waste of my time, and elected to get the procedure done elsewhere.
I have truly never had such a strange experience with a vet clinic. Communication is key, so take your pets somewhere that values this, rather than where

This Animal Clinic came highly recommended to
My boyfriend from I got our cat. She was in need of being neutered, and she is our pride and joy! We were beyond pleased with the animal clinics true TLC treatment towards us and our cat. She is very shy and doesn’t allow herself to be held by anyone other than immediate family however she jumped right right in his arms leaving us super relieved. The surgery took only a few hours and they called us very nicely as well as kept her in her comfort carrier. They even did a follow up call the next day as well as gave us great bedside manner. Needless to say we are super satisfied. It is very much worth it to bring your animals to somewhere you can feel safe and at ease with them at. Staff is very friendly as well!

We recently brought our feral cat because we suspected a massive eye infection and dental infection. About an hour later, Dr. Kolbert called to inform us that it appears Mama had a massive tumor and there was extensive damage to her gums and jaw, as well as the eye. I asked if he would wait for us to travel back from Queens so we could be with her when she was put down - Mama was our feral for over 12 years and a part of our family. He kindly waited and explained everything to my husband and me when we arrived. His staff was very kind and offered condolences. I am happy that I took Mama to a place that did not treat her like a feral that didn't matter. She did matter, and I appreciated that. Also, Dr. Kolbert could've done all the procedures and charged us before telling us of her grave condition. I find him to be very honest, and we will return to Glen Cove Animal Clinic.Picture: Mama with her kitten in 2011 who became our indoor cat and passed away just weeks before his mom.
