My son took lessons here over the summer. Overall, not a bad experience and he did better than I expected considering he was still a bit afraid of the water when he first started. I really liked his instructors, it was the same 2 or 3 instructors that he had throughout the 8 weeks he was there. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because there were times the groups could’ve been 2:1 or even 1:1 because there were available lanes and swim instructors but they weren’t utilized despite availability. I know I paid for 4:1 lessons and most of them turned out to be only 3:1 and sometimes even 2:1 so I shouldn’t be complaining, but they could’ve utilized the other lanes and instructors to give the kids more individual attention... Other than that, my son enjoyed it and is more confident in the water now so I might still continue lessons here in the future.

Instructors are very good, but they are handicapped by poor management.

The lady at the front desk was less than civil and berated me in front of everyone for daring to request a female instructor for my daughter.

My son has been with LI swim school for four years and it was been a wonderful experience. Alexis and her team are professional, organized, responsive and caring.Classes start on time and registration is easy through the online process.Other swim schools are not as efficient. The space is clean and well-cared for. The instructors are trained well. They know how to support children of different age groups so they may be confident in the pool! I recommended the school to a friend and her son, who was very apprehensive about swimming in other places learned so much.Great job LI Swim!

If you want your kids to learn swimming, consider private lessons and find a pool somewhere in the county. Here are the reasons why you shouldn't waste your time with 30-minute lessons once per week (or even a day). This is the reality of what you'll get for the 30-minute lessons: 1. If your kid is a real beginner and not comfortable with water, you'll get a high school kid dragging your kid from one end of the pool to another end for about 10 minutes since there's a 3:1 kid-to-teacher ratio. 2. If your kid is more comfortable in the water, s/he would be placed on floaters and be taught how to kick which a high school kid dragging him back and forth for 10 minutes per lesson. There's no coaching involved as I'd expected from lessons. I'd expect some supervision from the senior staff to at least tell the swimmer to not bend his/her knees, etc. Getting this type of coaching from the high school kids shouldn't be your expectation. 3. If your kid is super comfortable with water (and probably after paying for 6 months here), he'd be placed on floaters be dragged with the high school kid some more. The high school kid will throw all types of strokes (freestyle, breast, etc.) at your kid which is deemed to confuse him/her. This is also a 10-minute lesson give and take... Based on the above, it will take over a year for your kid to learn to swim. Then again, maybe some of you have kids who are naturals in the water... but not mine. I've personally wasted an entire summer here and have thrown in the towel. Some positives to end this review: 1. Senior staff is friendly and easy to talk to... 2. High school kids they retain are nice and good with kids... 3. Facility is clean compared to public pools and others. However, the above three points are not the results I want from attending swim school.

My daughter loves this place. The instructors are very good at teaching strokes. It seems it has soften the rules a bit since I saw some people taking pictures of swimmers. Some changing space were added, but still an issue.

Horrible ! They are dishonest and give out inaccurate information just to get you in the door and then it becomes a disaster. I had originally signed up my 5yr old for a summer session. Before registering I called to inquire about make up classes being that it is the summer time and we had some pre booked events. I was told that it wouldnt be an issue as long as they were notified ahead of time. One of the days comes around and I reach out to reschedule the class and I was told that I must have called the wrong place because classes con only be rescheduled with medical notes from the doctor.YOU GUYS CAN NOT BE SERIOUS ! NEVER AGAIN !-Natalie Cuas

Excellent instruction. The kids are not waiting around for their turn and getting bored. They are given a lot of coaching in a fun way. Highly recommend.

It has been a pure joy seeing my children progress in their swim lessons. They look forward to coming and especially enjoy their time with their swimming instructors. In these unprecedented times, Karla, and her staff have made us still feel like family.

Management is rude and unprofessional and dismisses you. Receptionist is also a horribly rude person. . Do not waste your money here. It's not worth it at all. Unorganized and crowded for parents

So happy with our first season in this school! All the instructors take their job very serious and are clearly happy to be there. Also, the administration is very organized are on top of it! Alexis is the team leader I mainly dealt with.. she is very personable and diligent! They know the kids after 1 or 2 classes and they give feedback based on their previous class every week... very encouraging! I saw a huge improvement in my children’s swimming in a short period of time. Thank you guys!

The staff is very friendly, but the lobby can get very humid and hot. The water is not as clean as other pools I've been to, because I accidentally partially choked down some water, next day, my throat got infected! Otherwise, the place was okay, the pool is very deep, but theres only a limited amount of showers, and the locker rooms are very small.Edit: The locker rooms should Be bigger, there are only 2 showers, no stalls to change in, not to mention its very dirty! I found flies in a showet, and more in the changing area!

I don't recommend this place for the following reasons. First of all, they put kids at different levels in the same class, so they can fill the class up. As result, the instructor will spend more time and attention to the kids that are behind and you feel that your kids have been left out even though you pay the same tuition. Second, the class is large and the lesson is short. They put 8-10 kids in beginner stroke clinic for 40 minutes class. Do your math, each kid barely gets 5 minutes of practice. Third, the manager at Garden City site is very condescending. When you bring your concerns to her, instead of acknowledging your concerns, she becomes defensive and patronizing.Bottom line, they don't have your kids best interest in mind. They only care about reduce cost and increase profit. And they treat their customers with disrespect. There are plenty of swimming school in L.I. Don't waste your hard earned money on this place.

Emmy is the best teacher!! I have been afraid to get in the water all my life, and now I am progressing steadily. She carefully observes what I do, and encourages me to push myself. She is warm and friendly. The school setting is comfortable and the staff is friendly.
