With 4 dogs, there’s ALWAYS something I need from them. Whether it’s arthritis meds for my old guy, spay/neuter, monthly flea/tick pills or someone has a lump, they are always friendly & treat my babies well.

Doctors Powell and Reffirld have been providing quality health care for my golden retrievers for decades. I wouldn't trust any other agency to provide the same level of care as the Fredonia Animal Hospital and their staff.

My 15 year old Corgi had struggled for over 8 months with nagging coughing/gagging/chocking episodes that did not abate despite Dr. Redfield prescribing stronger and stronger antibiotics. When we kept returning with the same problem, despite having done a complete workup of x-rays, blood work, etc., I knew the problem had to be in his throat. I asked what to do in this instance and whether he had seen this kind of thing before in his many years of practice. He didn't have a real answer or projection of the cause and he suggested the dreaded Orchard Park Vet hospital an hour away, with impossibly long wait times for an appointment. In late November I was given a possible appointment date of mid February for a consult with the internist who would do a throat scope. I later found out that a CT scan would have done the job of detecting the problem, but was never told that was an option by Redfield. My precious dog had cancer in his throat, with severe symptoms that were intermittent enough they didn't merit an emergency visit. I requested the test be done at the first opportunity but OPVH insisted a consult happen first. Dr. Redfield should have relationships with this hospital so that ailing pets can get tests without reinventing the wheel. The office sent Wesley's records but did nothing to follow up or secure treatment. I finally ended up in a vet hospital in Red Bank, NJ, where many unnecessary tests were run and finally the CT scans performed. $6,500 and two days later, my precious guy was put down with advanced cancer in his throat, tongue and lymph nodes. An oral exam revealed the level of disease. Wesley was the first dog in my life, who lost his life because of inept care, a lack of a diagnosis, and the inability to get timely care. I wouldn't have bothered to leave this review except for the outrageous treatment I just received from the front office. I returned Wesley's food, still chocking back tears over his loss, and was never asked why the food was being returned. When I looked at the receipt while sitting in my car, I noticed the future treatments Wesley was expected to undergo. I called and spoke to Diane and told her the reason I returned the food was because Wesley had died. She told me she would remove him from the schedule and hung up. No condolences, questions about what happened, or any human response like that. I sat in the car and sobbed over the indifference and unkindness in that treatment. This is a mediocre practice at best. Fine for wellness treatment. But, if there's any serious problem or you need some decent human treatment, don't go here. The prices are fine compared to most other places. These animals are our family members and their loss is a devastating experience that takes years to get over. I can still barely function as it's only been a few weeks since we put him down. I will never forget how callously I was treated and will forever warn others to stay away from Fredonia Animal Hospital.

Dr. Redfield and staff were accommodating. We are so grateful that they were able to see our Dutchess and diagnosed that she had a torn ACL. They would be the Veterinarian of our choice if we lived in the area. Their facility was very nice and clean.
