We brought our dog in to be put to sleep because he was not doing well. I paid up front so that we did not have to worry about it after the fact. I was told it would cost $110 for the weight of my dog (15 lbs) and it would be more if we wanted to do something with his remains. However we took our dog home to bury. They called me about 20 min after the procedure and told me there was another $53 charge that I had to pay for the sedation. This was never discussed as an extra fee nor did our poor dog need it. This is why we don't take our animals there. BEWARE!!!

I have never felt so comfortable and confident in a vet facility as I do with fort plain. They are above and beyond. Dr. Rocco joined the team there and I’m so thankful for that. She has been pawsome with my dogs. The vet techs are always amazing! My dog Maggie had a splenectomy there and the vet tech even took photos during surgery to help me better understand how it went and to better help me understand the procedure done. I’m super thankful for her going the extra mile! And the receptionist Emily and others too have been very professional and helpful. Keep up the good work staff! You’re appreciated! ?❤️

I've been going to FPAH for many years, but more so over the past 3 months due to my one cat being very ill. Dr. Weaver was incredibly patient with my many questions. She researched his conditions and contacted me numerous times to check on him. They always got him right in when a situation arose - 12 x's over 3 months. She and the amazing techs/staff always treated him and me with respect and dignity. In the end when nothing more medically could be done they got me right in to end his pain. They really do care for the pets and owners. They are not just doctor and staff - but real friends.

Everything. They are very well run and the bio about Dr. Chen is exactly what we were looking for since he is professionally trained in both Western and Eastern medicine he can make holistic recommendations as well. This is perfect and he has been spot on with our dogs! great staff, reception and Vet Techs too!! Thank you Fort Plain Animal Hospital for being there for our dog family!

My parents use this vets office and I have recently started bringing my pets there as well; aside from the need for a second secretary, I had no issues. They treated my cat, Harley Quinn, as though she was one of theirs and I was pleasantly surprised to see her relaxed and enjoying a "body massage" when I walked into the exam room (pet massages are something I've only seen my partner/myself do to pets and she's a testy kitty!!). I'm excited to bring the other animals to be seen as the rates are affordable and within reach for someone on a limited income

This was our primary vet we do rescues and service dogs, so we use more than one vet, we loved communicating via phone and email but I guess they changed their mind and all of a sudden thought we did not trust them we spent a lot of money there but I guess they felt they did not like cases that require any level of discussion, sad really especially claiming to be a more holistic vet but maybe they are right, maybe there was a reason not to trust them especially after seeing we were not the only ones and this really should be a standard practice to have discussions about such important matters as pet and service dog health. My advice is stick with professionals that have no issues with communicating or dealing with concerns.

I was quite happy with this animal hospital until my dog Harry needed an ultrasound. I had a most upsetting interaction with a man named Dr. Verra, a supposed professional but he was far from professional. I had a 6 o'clock appointment but was called a half hour before said appointment and told to come at 6:30 because he was running behind. I arrived at 6:25 and waited until 7:40 to finally get in to see Dr Verra. When I walked into the exam room, there was a dirty, wet sheet still on the gurney, something he waved off when I asked if the previous dog had anything contagious. Dr Verra never acknowledged me, didn't apologize for the very long wait and never even looked at me. Instead he asked what was "wrong with the dog." I told him that Harry had an enlarged liver (per x-ray and blood tests from Dr Chen nearly 2 weeks previously) so we were there to have an ultrasound. He asked me what medication "the dog" was on and though I couldn't remember the generic brand he was taking, I told Mr. Verra that it was the generic brand of Keppra. Still he never looked at me but said " so you don't know what medication he's on." I repeated that it was the generic brand of kepra but I didn't remember the name of the medication. My interaction went from bad to worse when he asked me the dosage Harry was on and I told him he takes a third of a 250 mg pill 3 times a day, so he's on 250 mg per day. Then he said that's not what the chart said. I asked him what the chart said and he declined to respond. I told him that Harry had been on the same dosage for 7 years and it works well do him. He repeated that the chart said something different and insinuated that I was either over or under medicating Harry. When I asked if he was insinuating this, he got up and left the room!! I was so upset by his demeanor that I decided that I was NOT going to allow hi to touch my dog. He was so unprofessional, so rude and cold, I didn't feel comfortable having my dog treated by this man. I got into it with him before I left and told him I was going to report him do the unsanitary condition of the room that I walked into. I called the hospital the next day and told them of my experience. They were apologetic so I left it at that. They saw Harry for a follow up blood test and I had a conversation with Dr Weaver about my experience. She was very nice and my feeling was that she understood my position., so I was under the impression that we were good. One of my other dogs, Gigi has an appointment the follows week. The day before her appointment, I received a letter from the office manager which said because of the incident with Dr Verra, they would no longer treat my dogs!!! I am so disgusted with this place. The cowardice of not having a conversation with me when I was there is unbelievable. But it's their decision. In a little less than a year I spent over $3000 with this place (I have 5 dogs 3 of them special needs). Because of their treatment around this incident, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. It seems they are more concerned with maintaining the status quo than they are with making sure that animals are reviewing the highest possible care.
