Always the best quality food and nice service… we have been customers for decades this time to avoid the holiday madness. We placed an order in advance on the phone? paid by credit card and then went to pick up….it was easy Peezy.

This store on 108th Street in Forest Hills, Queens is unique its a small grocery store with a deli & many Middle Eastern & European specialty foods. I have been going there for 30 years and I understand it was in business long before that. Reflecting the background of many of the people in the neighborhood It has food products from many different countries and cultures. Most (but not all- you have to check each product if you keep kosher to make sure) of the products are kosher certified. There are many food products from Israel , Russia and various other countries and cultures. The dried fried and nuts in the front , which are sold by the pound, are the best I have ever had. My favorite are the Israeli Peanuts, which are a coated peanut. There are also all kinds of nuts, dried fruits and things like rock candy and chocolate coffee beans. They also have numerous types of coffees , jams and Jellies and things like Baklava. Its a small store so it quickly gets crowded. However the staff, which is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the products , is very efficient and the wait is usually not too bad. I have learned a lot about different foods just by listening to the questions and answers of the people ahead of me in line. There are several International Food Stores in the neighborhood, including several in the same stretch of 109th Street. However, I think this is the best one.

My family has been shopping here for as long as I can remember - they're the best place to get Israeli products in NYC and, over a decade after leaving the city, I've yet to find anywhere that comes close. The products are great quality. Prices have increased, but that's true everywhere. The store is small and often crowded, so expect a little bit of chaos, but everyone has always been helpful and kind. The nuts, dried fruit, olives by weight, halva are all excellent and have been for at least the last three decades :) Go and enjoy!

Carmel has been around for so many years and never fails to deliver. I was recommended to go to buy ground coffee beans (they make it on the premises) and I was so surprised. My coffee was delicious. Definitely will be back to buy more of their coffee. Highly recommend!

Owner told me I could not have my dog in the store unless I carried him. I explained that he was a service animal. He said he didn’t care. I said politely that it was the law. He said he didn’t care and that it was his policy. I said that there was no such thing when it came to service animals, it is the federal law and that he would not be in trouble for letting my dog inside if he was a medically necessary service animal. His wife started to take my spice order and salad with a scowl on her face. It came to almost $8 and she told me I had to spend $10 to pay with a card and then quickly started putting everything I ordered away. Super rude owners that don’t follow the law and mistreat people with disabilities. Won’t be coming back.
