“I am also a regular customer who goes to Wilderness Flower Shop every week to search for indoor plants. I mainly like to collect various shade-tolerant plants such as philodendron, rough grass, arrowroot, sansevieria, orchid. The owner, Cuicui, is from Fujian. She is very hard-working and enthusiastic in hospitality. She is determined to make Yuanye Flower Shop the leading plant retail store in Queens, New York City. Hope she will succeed.”
“I remember my grandmother bringing me here as a small child. Back then there was only one or two boba shops in the area, and Taipan Bakery still had a bunch of bakeries. Flushing has changed a lot in the past many many years, but besides the signage (much more English than before) and pricing (darn the economy), this place remains.
I go here for the tea eggs, these lovely things boiled for hours in a black tea based broth. By the time these little guys get to me, the scent of cloves and anise blend beautifully with the soy sauce baseI. I'm not sure how long the broth has been here for, but I'm convinced it's one of the closest things to a perpetual stew I can find on this side of Queens. Sure, the spot isn't as old as Lucia's (a pizza spot also on Roosevelt), but it serves as a living example of the food culture that makes Flushing home. As food trends come and go, and the latest in increasingly complex Chinese chains come stateside, I can only hope that this place continues.”
“Jason’s has been our go-to florist for years! I’m always satisfied and impressed by the longevity of the flowers. There are always gorgeous and unique bouquets to choose from if you don’t have customization preferences. I like that they have also expanded in recent years to include houseplants. Things are a bit on the pricy side but I think it’s 100% worth it for the quality and service.”
