We had a good experience here. We're coming from a different vet that never seems to have availability lately. I think we'll switch to this vet. The doctor were saw was very friendly and open w us. Clean. We did not have a wait.

Been going to this hospital for 20 YEARS. Gary Koslow sold the hospital to VCA and immediately the prices went up and continued going up twice a year. After 20 years of bringing all my dogs there I questioned a bill and was told by Wendy, the office manager, not to come back. After 20 years! She complained that they have gone over and above to care for my dog! Umm, they're a healthcare facility. Isn't that what they're supposed to do? I contacted VCA corporate and got no response! They send you surveys after your visit, but I doubt they ever read them. Their exam fees are outrageously high. $116 for an exam and every other animal hospital in the area is $90-$95. You have to wipe off the exam surfaces yourself because they are always full of hair or blood. The waiting room stinks from cigarettes because the front desk ladies go out to smoke and bring that stench back into the waiting room. One of them pet my dog and I had to bathe him when I got home because he stunk from cigarettes. That is unacceptable. The front desk people don't smile. They act like you're bothering them. They will not see you in an emergency. They tell you to go somewhere else. The doctors are okay. Dr Pettit is wonderful, but you have to wait two weeks to get an appointment with her. I have a special needs dog for whom she has cared for 13 years so we were left without continuity of care. I reached out to Dr Pettit as well, but got no response! Obviously, I had to find another veterinarian who could provide the quality of care that my dog requires. I'm happy to say that I was able to find an excellent doctor who is so knowledgeable and more thorough than I could have hoped for. Her prices are much more reasonable and the front desk staff actually welcomes you and smiles! I wish I had made this move sooner. If you're using or thinking about using Commack Animal Hospital, you can do better at any other hospital. Do your homework!

I’m not really happy with the veterinary technicians here. They are very dismissive and do not show any care about dogs or even their owners at all. Not satisfied.

I have been going here for 18 years. Dr petite is amazing but I can never get an appointment or a call back. Not her fault. Been trying to schedule an ultrasound and was told the manager was not in and would call me back. Its been 10 days. No call. My dog wont eat. They dont take emergency same day appointments. Ive had to go to the ER with my dog twice now. Looking for a new vet hospital. Very frustrating.

We've been bringing our dogs here a vey long time. Easy to get an appointment and never a long wait. The staff is friendly and the doctors are very attentive

Love this place, I’ve been boarding my dog here the last 3 years and I couldn’t be happier! I love the Vet is available during boarding in case there’s an emergency!

such a great facility! the techs were super nice and caring and dr. eric johnson was a pleasure and my cat loved him. you can tell this place really cares for their patients and does what’s best for them. will definitely be back for sure!

We have been with Commack Animal Hisoital since 1982. The original doctors were awesomeThe staff were awesome. We saw a changecwhenbtgey joined VCA and again when Dr Koslow left. Yesterday we had to put our very lived dog downThey knew we were coming yet we had to wait about 15 minutes to get a room.The procedure went well. Then I waited another 15 minutes to get the final papers and to pay the bill. The receptionist kept apologizing. I was waiting in a room with healthy animals, yet i just lost mine forever. I was told they were busy. The feeling I got was, oh well it's over, you don't matter anymore. Dr Koslow and his associates saw us through 4 other dogs. Never did we have to wait either before of after.Please review your procedures. Remember that the animal you just helped along has a loving family that is suffering its loss.

Anyone complaining about prices here isn't living in the real world with veterinary medicine today, which is nuts. I am happy to pay the higher fee for the excellent service. They took my elderly difficult cat in & were fearless in handling her (she needed to be covered in a comforter as she's a biter/tigger). Cat had an upper respiratory that the doctor handled appropriately (Convenia inject & not oral meds). They didn't question what I told them about her difficulty (and why she hadn't been to a vet in y e a r s) & didn't order unnecessary tests for an old lady. Nor did they ask me to pay upfront before seeing the animal (recently done to me by a Northport vet wanting astronomical prices before she'd treat the animal). I left feeling like I'd been treated like a human being and not a never ending $ well. Highly recommend. ?

Overall one of the better veterinary clinics I've been to. One of my cats is a handful(well 3 person handful) but they were able to handle him.The doctors, especially Dr.Petit, are very knowledgable and honest.The office is pretty clean and the staff are kind.It can get busy at certain times of the day so I prefer the early appointments.They have an app which makes tracking pet records easy.Some services and products here are more expensive than other offices.

As far as treatment is concerned the staff is pretty good and I have no complaints. Little trouble accepting that because I was 15 minutes late they had to cancel my appointment… Last appointment I had I was waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes and didn’t complain. This policy was never implemented in the past and I just think the front desk should do a better job accommodating customers rather than turning away someone who’s been coming for years.

I have been taking my cats to Commack Animal Hospital since 2018. We moved and I would never go anywhere else. The staff is so caring. Yesterday I had an emergency and they were able to squeeze me in because someone cancelled. I was relieved I did not have to go the the ER with my cat. Although the doctor we loved left the group, the doctors there are all great. We saw Dr.Snipes and she was wonderful with my anxious 2 year old cat. Highly recommend!
