Men’s haircut - barber name Junior’s behavior shows 'customer satisfaction' isn't his priority. it was a nightmare just to get on the schedule for the store and if you are not private cut from him. He clearly don't value saloons clients at all and behaves bad if you talk to him personally

First time here getting a UV gel mani and the overall result was ok. Front desk was really nice and offered refreshments while I waited for the nail tech to set up. I like that the nail tech, Orquidea paid attention to nail length, cuticles and underneath my nails. Very detailed and precise. I showed her a design on my phone but was still told to choose colors. Got a simply design because there was limited cat eye options. Was disappointed at the end of my service because there was NO hand massage or hot towel although I tipped and took pics at the end. Maybe the spa treatment is more so for the hair salon and not the nail salon.

wasted TWO hours of my time here, just to leave unserviced. the professionalism SUCKS and i will not be back. by far one of the worst experiences I've had at a salon in Long Island. do NOT recommend.

On July 25, I went to this salon for a butterfly locs which the owner said was $150.00 without hair being included but I was charged $200.00 instead. The owner is very nice & professional.
However, a hair stylist named Laura is very rude, obnoxious & very unprofessional. She doesn’t believe in doing what customers want & requested. Despite asking her before starting my hair to part them small, yet she didn’t. I repeatedly asked her to part my hair small, she continued styling my hair how she wanted. After realizing she wasn’t going to do what I asked, I then asked her to at least part the front small to no avail.
Subsequently, the owner had to intervene & requested another hairstylist who is of African descent to finish my hair but she refused and the owner did nothing.
I needed to buy more hair as the quantity I brought with me was insufficient. The hairstylist suggested that I took a picture of the hair. I asked her for the package to take a picture & she directed me to a garbage can to retrieve it. I tried to explain to Laura that the package is better as it has all of the information needed written on it. She refused to get the package from the garbage. I eventually got up from the seat & retrieved the package myself.
The owner had to talk her into finishing my hair. After she was forced to complete my hair, she came back to the station with an attitude & picked up a dirty towel of the floor & put it on my shoulder. I confronted her & removed the dirty towel of my shoulder.
The front of my hair wasn’t done well as she didn’t meshed the locs with the extension. She cut on side shorter & left the back long.
I had to ask my relative to fix the cut upon returning home.
I was very disappointed & unhappy with the service. I would recommend any of the other stylist but Laura.

There was no miscommunication between myself, management & the hairstylist.
You quoted me $150.00 for butterfly locs shoulder length. As we know, the butterfly locs are already made with exact length. I didn’t have any braiding done which requires stylist to braid to length. The locs come already made & all she had to do was to insert the locs to my hair. I asked her to cut locs to my shoulder & which she messed up badly. The cutting of my locs didn’t worth $50.00 which you added to the original agreed quote.
Now, it’s her words against mine. As I told you, prior to sitting on the chair, I requested that she parted the front of my hair small to cover my scalp which she ignored. Lastly, my niece had the same hair style done in NJ & paid $240.00. Hers was done from scratch & the stylist provided her with the hair. I ended up spending $86.00 for the hair & paid you $200.00 for a job badly done.

This is my go to spot for all my beauty maintenance. I recently got my nails done by Orquidea and like always she executed exactly what I wanted. Her work is incredible, she amazes me. I decided to get my eyebrows waxed and OMG OMG OMG OMG, when I tell you this is the best my eyebrows have ever looked! I went into it crossing my fingers because my eyebrows are a little weird and the young lady who did them literally KILLLED IT. I absolutely love her. She is now my new eyebrow waxer. Love her down to the ground. She literally slayed my brows. The girl has blesssed hands. Marina, who did my toes is super gentle and takes her time making sure she give you excellent service.
This place is truly a hidden gem! I love it here!!!

Cut Above salon the name says it all. I wanted a place that gives personalized services and they did not disappoint. I was extremely satisfied with my nails and my wig install. The owner is phenomenal and customer service is top tier.

The services my family and I have received at A Cut Above are top notch! My father always leaves the barber shop looking well groomed with a precise cut- EVERY TIME!
I've had my hair braided by Esther several times- and she is patient and helps your vision come to life! Her braiding skills are phenomenal!
My mother and I regularly have our manicures and pedicures done by LaLa and Marina. LaLa and does amazing work- using Valentino products and there is NEVER any lifting of my nails💅 - they grow out beautifully and I get soo many compliments throughout the month. No need to get a fill-in until 3 -5 weeks. Yes, her work is just that good.
Peducures by Mariana are also top notch! She is meticulous and leaves your feet looking great.
The environment is also pristine- there is constantly a staff member cleaning or checking to see if you want a beverage while you are being serviced. You won't be disappointed- go!

Honestly, it doesn't even matter if you're not from Long Island—I travel from Brooklyn to come here. I made sure I had several services before writing a review, and I’m so impressed by the professionalism and quality of care that I felt compelled to share this gem.
These days, especially after COVID, great service feels so hard to find but at A Cut Above, the products, the people, and the experience are all exceptional. First, let me talk about the products—they’re amazing! I absolutely love the peppermint shampoo and conditioner, along with other products that promote hair retention and growth.
They specialize in Dominican-style services, including blowouts and hot curl styling, but they also offer braiding services. I've been coming here for my U-part wig maintenance, and they do a fantastic job caring for both my natural hair and my wig, which is reinstalled at each service.
The manager, Mari, is incredibly professional and a talented stylist. Laura and Blanca, the other stylists I’ve gone to, are equally amazing—they’re patient, professional, and make sure your hair is styled exactly how you want it. The owner, Ralph, is also wonderful. He takes the time to build a rapport with clients and genuinely cares about your experience at the salon—it’s not just about making money.

Amazing Experience Every Time!
I’ve been coming to A Cut Above for all my nail and hair needs, and it’s truly a hidden gem. The staff are friendly, professional, and always make me feel welcome.
For nails, their attention to detail is incredible every manicure and pedicure is perfection! They have a wide variety of colors and designs to choose from, and they never rush the process. My nails always look flawless and last so long.
When it comes to hair, I couldn’t be happier. The stylists really listen to what I want and provide helpful suggestions when I’m unsure. Whether it’s a haircut, color, or styling, the results are consistently fantastic.
The salon itself is clean, beautifully decorated, and creates such a relaxing atmosphere. It’s like a little oasis where I can unwind and treat myself.

life is about experiences and this has to be the worst one yet getting my hair braided. We walked in because my beautician canceled on me. normally i would just reschedule with her but I have school the next day. A black girl shampooed my hair with cold water and never touched my scalp. I noticed my mom got tired of waiting and decided to get her hair done too. after her shampoo she sat next to me under the dryer and said the shampoo was awful too. my mom decided not to continue with her hair services. At the end of my service, the lady that shampoo my hair kept calling someone after my mom paid 115 ( for pop smoke braids). The person on the phone asked them to count the cornrows in my hair (11) for them to determine a price. The lady that braided my hair said the flakes that are in my hair line are from the products that she just sprayed in my hair. The lady kept telling my mom to wait but she paid so i didn’t understand why. This place is HORRIBLE i guess if you are not getting extensions or don’t have my texture hair find another location!!!!
