Elmira NY. DG on Route 14 had grass seed with the big round yellow patch on the package saying $8 and a lable on the shelf identifying the package and saying $12. The yellow patch on the package appeared more legitimate but I asked the guy at the counter anyway. He did about 5 minutes of heming and hawing, even trying to call his coworker to get a clarity on the price. Feeling the lack of clarity overall as the seconds became minutes, I told him I'm gonna come back for the seed tomorrow so just wait till tomorrow and ring up what I have now. Clearly something other than knowlegable salespeople seemed to be going on here. I left with my cookies and chalked it up to a further reason to skip over this DG unless absolutely necessary in the future. The last time I clicked on a ytbe vid about DG was something like "why Dollar General always has half empty boxes of merch in their aisles and are understaffed" back about 5 months ago. Four DG stores in Elmira, and with neighboring towns we have 7 DG stores within a 11 mile radius. btw, in terms of unit price discreptancy, DG and FDO are by far much more expensive than WMT or local supermarkets, hardware stores or other specialty merchandizers.
