I felt like I was still recovering from my last Fit Club as I walked past this white shaped dome in East Rochester called PowerTrain. Yep, don't you know it, it was time for a Fit Club- Cardio Boot Camp. Jenna Smith, Operations and Fitness Director, started the tour around the facility. The motto of PowerTrain is to deliver the best in individualized results-driven sports performance and fitness training. This facility has a multitude of coaches who will TRAIN YOU, Monitor You, and put your results combined overall on GIANT T.V.'s. It creates a sports mentality of working out, where you can excel surprisingly faster than actually being good at any sport. All the coaches go around like clockwork to make sure no one is falling below the line on the heart monitors, which can be viewed on the TV screens. One side of the facility will consist of machines, free weights, and astro turf grass for your golf swing. Matt Simmonds is one of the TOP sports performance coaches at PowerTrain, his motto is STRENGTH + SPEED= DOMINANCE (word!). Jenna and Matt then lead us to the Cardio Side to get strapped in with our heart monitors. Using the heart monitors while working out is an awesome idea to prevent you from CHEATING! It allows the coaches to view how your performance REALLY is going. You hardly feel the heart monitor once you get strapped, thanks Marissa N. for buckling it up. Then we where all divided up into teams, I was happy to be with Chris J. since this guy really knows how to PowerTrain. The exercises where repetitions of moving between different stations involving treadmills, bikes, squats, free weights, ropes, balls, and your own weight. The trick is you had to remain in the YELLOW ZONE on the heart monitors to get the BEST OVERALL Score while going through the exercises. This was based upon Calories, Exertion, and Max (meaning how long you where overall in the RED ZONE). Being in the BLUE ZONE means your not really doing ANYTHING, and it will flash on ALL the screens as a warning, so YOU BETTER watch out for the coaches! GREEN means your getting there, but you don't want to be there for TOO LONG, like a warm-up. RED means you are over-exerting yourself. I learned today that because you seem to be pushing yourself, you can be overexercising, which leads to a negative value. YELLOW is the Goldy Locks of the bunch, you want to make sure you are right in the YELLOW Zone throughout your ENTIRE work-out to maintain sustainability. To my surprise, I was the Top Performer by gaining the best results while being in the YELLOW ZONE (which I had no idea about before). I was so proud to see my name on ALL the TV screens, and winning the PowerTrain tee-shirt w/ duffel bag as a prize! Out of ALL the Fit Clubs i have been too, this is the one so far I see myself going back to, and investing in. I felt this work-out everywhere in my body for about a week after. Membership Prices are VERY reasonable for Boot-camp Sports Styled Training/ Working Out. OVERALL: BEST Fit Club To Date, Matt and Jenna, Heart Monitors, Boot-camp Training, The JUMBO-TRON, High-End Free-Weights...and the YELLOW ZONE...Oh yeah!, I Will Be Back.
