I have purchased many times from South Bay over the past 5 years. Easily my favorite auction house I've ever purchased from. Shipping is also very easy. They use a local shipping company, the prices are very reasonable, and items are typically shipped within days of purchase.

This auctioneer stands out from the crowd for several reasons: he charges 15% for a consignor even on a lot that sells for over $50,000 and pays the consignor after 45 working days. When he does not like a consigned item he leaves it out of the sale without any explonation.

Worst auction house ever. I bid on-line on an item at $225, 12 hours before the actual auction was to take place. Then, the next day, I logged on to see if I had won. I was so excited because South Bay said the winning bid was $225! When I called the house to pay for my prize, they said they had given it to someone on the floor for the same price. I said, "Wait, how did someone on the floor beat my bid at the same amount when I was the first bid at $225 a whole day before? They said, it's easier to collect from someone on the floor than someone online... What? Then, to add insult to injury, they said "If you had only left a bid for $25 more, you probably would have won." On-line bidders, pass this company up.

South Bay Auctions is a top notch operation.. They've auctioned off several pieces of art for my family over the years.. They are very fair and transparent in their actions and we've always been happy with the results.. A family owned and operated business with many years of experience under their belt, i believe you can have full confidence in putting your trust in them wen it comes to pricing and handling of your goods.. Also a great place to locate rare and special items.. They have a huge community and catalogue to pull from so every auction will have something wonderful!!
