Heckscher State Park is a good and rather nice park with many places to walk, explore, and bike ride with or without children. It is a wonderful place to watch the sunset and to walk along the beach. It is an ok place to swim, with two bay beaches on the property. The park is a great spot to explore and to use as a home base for exploring the rest of Long Island. It is a good place for camping, with campsites spread apart under a tall canopy of trees. The park has numerous nice playgrounds for children, which are a big area for kids to play. There are plenty of playgrounds and an enormous picnic area. The facilities are clean and the bathrooms are very convenient and ok. The grounds are very clean with no garbage, and there are many supplied cans for refuse. Park benches are very old. It is a good place to spend a day or a few hours.
My Mom used to use to this park every summer. My Aunt used to come with us and bring my cousins with her. Good memories!

Grounds was very clean, no garbage, but there is a lot of bird poop in the grass at Field 6. Very convenient bathrooms. Park benches are very old and make sure you bring table clothes.

This park is extremely huge. I did a log here for Vincy day and it was pretty nice.
