“Had an unfortunate tire blow out on my tractor trailer. Fortunately, another truck driver had blown a tire on a curb and had called for service. The over the road technician was super friendly and finished his first job before coming right over to start work on my trailer. He sized my tire and ran back to his shop to prepare for my tire change. He was fast, efficient, and maintained a positive attitude even when the rusty nuts gave him a hard time. I have been driving for over 25 years and the service was top notch. I was so pleased with the experience I ran into Dunkin Donuts to make sure he had a dozen to get his day started with back to back calls at 6 in the morning. My company has added them to our list of vendors if ever needed again.

They wonderful lady behind the desk went out of her way to locate one for me and managed to get me back in first thing in the morning so my trip was not delayed at all! “They came recommended to me and my granddaughter by Epiq Auto. Granddaughters car had all the lights on her dash lit up. We dropped it off, they found the problem and called us. Needed a cellunoid. Had to order the part and would be done the next day. Picking her car up, the son showed us the bad one and how it was defective and explained it so even I could understand! Father and son were friendly and didn't feel that they took advantage of a young lady and an old lady.”

“Extremely friendly, professional, and honest. I got a flat while sitting in the driveway and was having trouble getting my wheel off the very corroded rim. I aired up as best I could and went to Whyte's just down the road. They made quick work of swapping my spare out in time for me to get to work. They then patched and replaced the damaged tire in a timely manner. The whole thing was an extremely generous price for how much they accommodated me.”

“Simply put, I cannot recommend Varna Auto highly enough. They have done great work on my cars for many years now (mostly Honda sedans and Toyota minivans).For the most part, customers usually interact with William, the owner; William's wife is often there , too, and is equally lovely. One of the things I like most about Varna Auto is that William and his colleagues are always willing to listen to the customer describe what's going on with their vehicle. They're pleasant, patient, and ask really good questions trying to get to the heart of the problem. And they certainly don't try to rush folks out of there, like some other shops do.I have lived in Ithaca for nearly two decades and, over the years, I've dealt with just about every auto mechanic in the area -- many of which have undergone repeated ownership/management transitions during that time period.While I've had some good experiences here and there, as a whole it's been EXTREMELY difficult to find an auto repair shop that:1) has integrity;2) performs consistent, quality work;3) doesn't completely rip you off with huge cost markups or invent fictitious problems for your car;4) charges you an amount similar to their initial estimate; and5) doesn't have a customer waiting room that's filthier than a sleazy hotel bathroom.Just like with any independent repair shop, I wouldn't necessarily bring a vehicle to Varna that has a super-complicated or model-specific problem. And the best part is, William will tell you the very same thing! For example, one time my minivan's automatic sliding door broke, and he said at the outset I'd be better off taking it to the dealer, since the dealer would have the correct parts in stock, mechanics who really know that particular model, and so forth. The fact that he didn't insist on having his shop do the job speaks volumes regarding the integrity and high standards of this auto repair shop.It's also important to know that Varna Auto (as of this writing) is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. It's a family-run business, so they're not open weekends. While they're pretty firm on the 5 p.m. closing time, if you're running a bit late and call ahead, they'll usually do the favor of sticking around for you to arrive. (And of course there's always the option of dropping your car off after-hours.)Again, while no auto repair shop is perfect in all ways, I highly recommend Varna Auto!”

“Years back, while living in Ithaca as a graduate student, I used to take my old Nissan Sentra to Brent. I got his reference from a fellow student.I sometimes had "arguments" with him. "What about doing this?""No need to," Brent would say with a smile. He was always protective of a student's financial well-being. ? Of course, he would things that were necessary.Brent knows cars. I recall that his work was very competently done. And very affordably priced.I am back in Ithaca as a Visiting Professor. It's nice to know that he is still running his business. From the reviews, it's clear that he still does things good old way - he looks after his customers and they come back to him.”
