This is, for a guy at least, the chick flick of clip joints. The ladies are pleasant enough. The prices are high for a man in these parts. They are much better barbers than the shop across the street, but. . . It's a place for ladies. The estrogen level can leave a grown man with moobs by the time his hair is cut, and they insist on washing your hair, which is none too pleasant when one of the ladies opens the door on a sub freezing day to converse with a departing customer, door wide open, as the soapy water freezes into a thin river of ice on your neck. And they are know how to cut hair. Women's hair (there is a difference). And as for banter, an important part of the male hair cutting experience (see the films Barbershop and Joes: we cut hair). Sports, women, why Floyd Mayweather deserve a serious beat down? These are the little side dishes missing at MTs. And who wants to get their hair cut when the missus is hovering by to offer counsel and play by play? No man. So if you are a woman, this is the place for you. If you are a man, drive on down to Fresh Cuts in Pawling, where Sean can do it all: talk, crack wise, make intelligent and informed conversation on who will win the next big fight, the Super Bowl, or whether Brady will really play until he is 45. For women these things mean nothing. For men? They are a big part of the male-bonding hair cutting experience. Both good places. One food for the ladies; the other good for the gentleman.
