The dollar general in Dover plains ny should really be shut down. The food there is disgusting it sits out and goes bad. I bought a big jar of pickles there gooey and moody not even a crunch. They taste horrible. The people who work there ther attitudes are brutal they are so not friendly they never stock anything and when they do the food sits and sits before they put it out. This isn’t the first time I bought old food there. And they do not care to help anyone their attitudes suck. I contacted the state and I’m also contacting the better business bureau something NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!

Boxes of merchandise constantly blocking aisles- but you can go around to get what you need in a pinch. Decent section of food for those who can't get to a grocery store. Flickering ceiling light in the juice/cereal aisle is enough to give someone a seizure. Self check out is great to have.

Worst Dollar General I've ever shopped in. Have gone in multiple times, to give it a chance, but never again. Out of stock on anything you need (pre- and post-Covid), and the worst check out system I've ever seen. Huge lines to check out with multiple employees in the store. Horribly managed, stay away, go to the one in Amenia.

The lanes are pretty narrow and the checkout is a little bit slow and confusing

This store was pretty dark, I’m not sure if a lot of lights were out inside but the aisles were much darker then other DG’s I’ve went to. While shopping, I couldn’t get to the products on the top shelf of the gardening section. There was a huge trolley with pounds of soil just left there in the aisle. I looked around for help but I could not find 1 associate. The register line was backed up by 10+ people so I just continued walking around the store until the line started to die down. I ended up just stepping on the trolley myself to reach the top shelf, although it was dangerous because I was fed up with looking for someone. It looked like only one person was in the store. Once the line went away, I walked up to the register and she asked me who was that air head? I have no idea what she was talking about, but she explained she was referring to a male customer who must’ve been complaining earlier because there were no associates at the register. Which I can’t blame him because there were 4 registers and only 1 open. The line was backed up to the other side of the store! When I got home, I checked my receipt and noticed she scanned two items twice and overcharged me. I called the same day 40 minutes later, and she stated that she would get a manager to call me RIGHT back, needless to say... that didn’t happen!... so I had to call the next morning and of coarse they can’t do anything unless I drive 45 minutes away to the store again. The manager couldn’t even offer a gift card for the inconvenience. This was actually my first time visiting this Dollar General in Dover Plains. I won’t be going again.

Out of so many things you can normally get there. But a good amount of most merchandise.

New product not on shelves, but are on numerous delivery carts which are sitting idle and blocking almost every aisle. It should be noted that this is a fire hazard & unsafe.

Very clean, the employees are decent. 9 times out of ten you'll find what you want.

On one hand, Dover Plains NEEDS this store for affordable basics. They do have a little bit of everything and prices are WAY more affordable than CVS. Employees are mostly friendly and helpful. On the other hand, I’ve never seen the store stocked/clean. The entire back walls/aisles are a mess of crates and boxes. It’s also extremely unsettling in 2020 to have a female employee talking loud enough to hear on the opposite side of the store, coughing dozens of times...only to find her NOT WEARING A MASK. Yikes, honey. I haven’t let a cough out in a retail establishment since February!

Surprised at the size of this store! So much bigger than the one in Patterson. Lots more inventory too!!
