Dansville NY Tops store Bad practices in the meat dept. I think the store manager was a little snarky when he called and left a message on my phone -Dale, Dean Dan, who ever it was SO, here is the scoop of what I witnessed last weekend at Tops meat dept. Make your own judgment and buy at your own risk! I personally, only buy my meat from Wilson Farms (Awesome meat by the way). Wilson Farms closes early on Saturdays so I went to Tops to get bones for my dogs instead. The old man there was instructed by the older lady to get some bones out for me. They were beef marrow bones. He lugs out a box full of bones and throws them on the floor (dirty floor I'm sure - to break apart the frozen bones).....then places this box on the counter (food prep counter after being thrown on the dirty floor). He proceeds to take bones out and place two to a tray and put on the meat shelf. THEN gets to two bones frozen together and looks to make sure older lady wasn't looking and throws them against the floor - picks them up and puts them on a tray ready to sell!!!!! That's right - throws them on the floor to break apart and then on to a Styrofoam tray to sell....I'm not sure what else these bones would be used for, soup maybe...? Needless to say they have bad practices there and I'm sure it isn't the first time that they have done this with other things. Think about that if you buy your meat there.
