Don’t waste your time applying for a cat at the Dewitt Petsmart. They kept ignoring my fiancé and I. Filled out my paperwork they yelled at us something about “due to covid we can’t have two people in here with the cats. Ok I asked if I could see said cat myself nope not today a different day. Next day my fiancé gets a text message which is honestly very unprofessional saying we can’t get the cat we wanted because we would NEED another kitten with her. Weird because it did not say that anywhere on their FB post where they advertised her. Ok cool we then asked if I can adopt two oh you would have to go through the process twice. Then they added a totally uncalled for comment for us to adopt in our own area. Rude people really. We have drove 4 hours for our other pets because we are HUGE animal lovers and the drive does not matter to us. I fell in love with the kitten because she reminded me of my childhood cat. I am also home 99.9% of time because I’m disabled the kitten would never be alone. Very odd that I would need another kitten with her. Then we called Petsmart and talked to an employee there and we were told we did not NEED another cat in order to have to get her. They would just prefer to have a kitten already for her. We were also told that we definitely should’ve been able to meet the cat. It’s funny because my mother who tried getting a cat from them a few years ago couldn’t get a cat through them because she already had a cat which she had gotten from them (Dewitt Petsmart) 16 years ago still alive healthy and up to date on shots. Still wouldn’t let her adopt through them. Seems like they will just say anything for you to not adopt a cat. Very frustrating for someone who felt for them when they keep posting how they’re overflowing with cats right now that need homes, but they don’t want to give them homes. I get that you need to be strict with who gets cats because a lot of people are crappy, but it’s not fair to be so rude to actual good pet owners. 0/5 stars

I wanted to comment on the negative reviews of Cny. Some of you might notice there's no funding for them to get a bigger better place. They're doing the best they can with what they've got. So if you naysayers have money to donate...time to help or a building they could use feel free to speak up or go volunteer...give money..supplies anything to help them. They're doing the best they can yes it's cramped but what choice is there? Anybody? I can't hear you? So instead of your crappy comments why don't you HELP THEM!
I hoped everybody gets the point or you think letting these cats roam the streets hungry and cold.injured..sick is the better way to go...you should keep comments to yourself

If I could get this negative stars I would. The women I talked to was super condescending made it seem like I've never owned a cat before, when I currently have 1 other cat. The lady gave me bipolar answers first saying it's fine to have another cat to socialize with then telling me the opposite a few minutes later. She asked me how often I'll be home, just like any other person, I have work to tend to, to be able to support my cat. Almost like they were expecting me to be home 24/7 with this cat shoved up my butt. In all this lady I spoke just needs to go inappropriate questions and just condescending the entire time, and needs to go.

The Lady handling the adoption process is so rude, condescending, and demeaning. The entire time she kept digging for a reason to deny my application. She said they prefer homes with cats, I respond that I have a cat not just my golden retriever and now that might be too much. Asked me if I work from home as if every pet owner does and needs to. Then condescendingly asked well if you work then who even takes out your dog, then poked into his ESA certification and questioned why I need an ESA. Way overstepping what they should be asking not to mention the tone the whole time. For a place that is supposed to help animals and find them new homes you'd think they would have someone that actually wants to help them running the adoption process, and not just talk down to people.

I honestly understand looking out for the safety of the pets in the shelter and who they go to... However I definitely think the staff is unprofessional. My whole conversation with the lady who took my application was her being very condescending towards me. Not only that it seemed like all she did was probe for reasons to deny the application I sent in. Asking what I do for a job and if I work from home? Then asking who takes my dog out if I work all day, like everyone with a pet stays home to stare at them 24/7. I also have my dog esa certified and she asked what do I need an emotional support animal for? Like huh what does any of that have to do with adopting a cat? She also stated she wanted the cat to have a second cat to go home with. I informed her I had another cat at home already with updated shot records and she proceeded to say well I don't know it doesn't seem like a good idea. Like alright lady stop wasting my time. I'll go a shelter that actually cares about finding animals a home.

My partner and I recently adopted a year old orange cat former named Silas (now spice) about 5 months ago. Over all the process was fairly easy we were welcomed to come meet and interact with him. Which we did we were notified about the details on him. I would have to say I found it to be a very cramped space for the amount of cats that were there and it seemed to me that they had sick cats kenneled in the same room as the cats that were going to there forever homes. But I do understand funding for shelters is scarce and there working with what they have. The workers all seem to be volunteers. I could tell they cared very much for the animals and had great knowledge about each cat. Overall great experience and we got too take home our beautiful Spice??

Friendly volunteers. They are not affiliated with the SPCA which alot of people assume they are. They could use dog food, cat litter, cat food and monetary donations. The money charged for spays and neuters go to the veterinarians so any donations are appreciated to pay rent, electric etc...

The woman who called me after I submitted my application for a cat - Mary Pat Spiegel - was incredibly rude. We adopted two cats at Petsmart six years ago who are thriving and happy. The issue (according to this Cat-Czar) is that they are indoor/outdoor. She does not approve of cats going outside, preferring them to live all their days confined. I assume she thinks this makes them live longer. Untrue in my cat owning experience. She is short-sided, rude, and obnoxious. Adopt elsewhere - or check the box for indoor only.

These guys are seriously the best and have so much love and care for all of the cats they have and the job they do. Just adopted from them a few weeks ago and they couldn’t have made the adoption process any better!
