This review is for the restaurant. I had read the bad reviews but since they weren't very recent, we gave this place a chance. Especially with limited dining options inside the Institute. Our waiter was a young man who barely spoke. Two of us ordered the dinner buffet (can't go wrong with a selection, right?) and one of us ordered off the menu. The buffet was the oddest, most unappetizing selection of food and soggy vegetables. In a small restaurant SO packed with tables set up so tight and uncomfortably. It is a mess. One entry door enters into the dining room. We never saw our waiter again after he brought the one meal out. Want refills on drinks? Too bad lol. Everywhere on the menu does it brag about their great desserts. Advertising about desserts with every meal. At the end of the meal we literally track the waiter down for the bill and ask about dessert. He says shortly "We're all out". And he walks away. (The restaurant opened an hour before!) We paid $24+ for one plate of soggy food. We asked another waiter on our way out about desserts. He says "Yes we have dessert. Then he disappears to check and comes back and says, Nope, I guess we're out!"This restaurant definitely appeals to the over 75 crowd, especially with the selection of soft foods and 1970 era food choices. Otherwise, keep your cash to yourself. (Because they only accept cash, but of course have an ATM on site. How tacky)

Food & drinks: Great friendly service and good home style food. A huge selection of all you can eat at the buffet. Beware Cash only! We didn't know this until halfway through our meal. We were out riding bikes and only had our driver licenses and a credit card on us. Our waiter was wonderful, he offered to hold our bill until we went back to our car, which was parked outside of the Institute, but I waited inside the restaurant while my husband went back to the car to get his wallet. This took about almost 20 minutes to walk to the car and back, but our waiter was absolutely Great! I think the no cash thing happens quite often. Also, this restaurant is the least expensive that we came across in the Institute.

Beds were old and uncomfortable. Waited for four days to get wifi that was part of the offering. Had to ask for everything. Very overpriced for amenities.Nearby activities: Easy walk to activities. Restaurant only accepted cash or checks.

While convenient to the square and Amphitheater, I cannot recommend this hotel. The rooms were clean but no one ever came to empty the trash. We had to ask for sheets and extra towels. The towels need replacing as well as the pillows, linens and the beds. The beds were very uncomfortable. We went 4 days without internet, and the TV sat on a table with no corresponding connections to the Wi-Fi. The dishwasher would stick on “normal “ and we eventually figured out it would work on “low” only. We will be staying somewhere else next time!

Where to begin? Wanted a nice dinner out before attending a concert on the chautauqua institution grounds. This restaurant is over-priced, service poor, food quality lacking and poor. Supposedly a dinner buffet. We arrived at 6pm and found empty steam trays. Decided to order off the menu. Went with the fried shrimp & discovered our fresh vegetables were what was left from the buffet! Requested tartar sauce & told we could get it from the buffet. Our server was not familiar with serving nor the menu. The young man never even checked back on us until meal's end. FYI- take cash since they stubbornly remain in the 20th century but just happen to have an ATM on the premises.

Where to start. Basically the accommodations are completely average, slightly better than a budget motel. However, do NOT expect to get what is advertised on their out of date website. Looking back, that should have been the first red flags.I booked two rooms, units 5 and 6 for a week, via email. through the owner. When I initially inquired about these rooms, I made it perfectly clear that I had to have access to working WIFI because I knew I would be on contract and facing an August 9th, 4:00 p.m. contractual deadline, Since we arrived this past Saturday afternoon, not only have we not had any access to working WIFI, our complaints about the issue have not been taken seriously, the issue has not been resolved, and I have been put under incredible stress trying frantically to meet my work deadlines. I deal with federally confidential material which cannot be used on open WIFI systems. My worksite blocks access to those protected sites when I try to use open, "guest" networks. Furthermore, trying to use my mobile hotspot has been incredibly frustrating and slow. Nonetheless, What is most bothersome is the fact that I and my family went to the staff and manager of the Mardelle/Tally-Ho on numerous occasions over three days asking for a resolution to this problem and it still was not resolved, until two days AFTER my deadline. I repeatedly told them that I would have never booked this accommodation without the guarantee of WIFI access. In addition, I do not appreciate the fact that the manager just straight out lied to me and my family members on several occasions in order to cover herself and her staff. She has told me that I did not phone her, "otherwise I would have called you back." That simply is not true, A simple look at both my son's and my phone records can easily validate and authenticate that we did, indeed, call her. We were also told that housekeeping would come by on Monday and do their job. They did not. But even if they had come by, we would not know exactly what "their job" supposedly consists of. Do we get fresh linen/towels or do they only empty trash? She also told my spouse that she had told me certain things, when in fact, she did not. Who runs a business like this?In sum, this is one of the worst run establishments I have had the misfortune to encounter. One final example, when I arrived the check-in instructions were nowhere to be found, there was no confirmation email sent the previous days, and as such this meant a lot of running back and forth between the Mardelle Manor and the Tally Ho looking for room keys; one of which has never been located. We have finally given up on our son being able to lock his room. And yet the most unprofessional check-in experience was when I was asked to provide proof that my down payment check had cleared because, "[their] accountant lost track of it." I should not have had to go track down a cleared check. This is not how professional businesses are run. I highly suggest they hire a proper manager with a degree in hospitality management.

This is a CASH only restaurant. This policy is not posted anywhere on outside menus or as you enter the restaurant. We called to make a reservation and we were not given this information at the time of making our reservation. Posted ONLY at the cashier checkout desk. We had to go to the ATM for cash. We chose to eat here before a concert since they offered a buffet. Small crowded eating area. Food in buffet line was not replenished in a timely manner forcing diners to crowd and line up in a small area. I saw a waitress plating and physically touching several desserts. Food was very average. I would not eat here again.

We were looking for a place with a hot served breakfast. The menu listed everything you could want omelettes, pancakes, eggs any style. The wait person was friendly but overwhelmed with 3 tables, he tried to capture the order but did not manage to deliver the obj before the food. On a second visit, more tables were filled and the server was overwhelmed as was the cook. Pancakes were raw and bacon undercooked.

Standard fare with a reasonably priced and varied buffet. No fancy haute ciusine but home like meals. Wine options are limited and here were no spirits. No cards either which is an inconvenience. I didn't bring a lot of cash..
