The customer service here is so good. On a busy Saturday with several customers in the store, they made time to measure my feet (because I hadn't realized my shoe size had changed with age, just that my feet hurt) and pull several styles and brands until I was able to walk away in comfortable shoes I really like. I was not treated, even remotely, like a fussy customer. The owner is great, and so are her staff. Great shop.

I went to Brown's Emporium on Tues, Oct 6th. I purchased a pair of shoes. The lady who helped me was Kate. She was very nice and helpful. When I got home and took the shoes out of the box I noticed several scuff marks on the shoes. I called and spoke to Kate. She said I could bring the shoes back. I brought them back two days later. The owner informed me that shoes would've never left her store in that condition. In other words - I must've scuffed them. I explained that I hadn't worn them, so couldn't possibly have made scuff marks. She said maybe they got scuffed in the shoe box. What? That doesn't even make sense! Her Customer Service is lacking and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Needless to say they've lost my business.

My mom and I visited Main Street for the first time in Chatham and discovered so many charming shops. One of my favorites was Browns. They have a fabulous selection of shoes which is my biggest weakness. The staff were kind, courteous and helpful. My mom ended up getting a lovely cardigan from their apparel section. So pleased to find a shoe store with so many of my favorite brands of shoes. Dansko, Birkenstock, Rockport, Comfortiva and many more. Looking forward to returning again!

Both my wife and I have a hard time finding shoes that fit. We have been to most of the stores with top reputations in the Hudson Valley but none compare with the staff at Browns. They were knowledgeable, tuned to our special needs, personable and patient with two easily frustrated customers. We both left with shoes that we enjoy wearing. A first. Highly recommended.

I like dealing with Brown's. I grew up in Chatham, moved away and then came back to settle down. It's nice to know theres a store in town that takes the time to properly measure your foot for a shoe and keeps quality brands in stock. Having lived in large cities all over the country, it's nice to see their doing it well, right at home.

Chatham, NY is my home town and I love visiting, especially during the fall season. And over the years (32 to be exact) I have watched our adorable Main Street change, and grow into (and out of) the clean, safe, sweet street it is today. I remember buying my tapes and cd's from Dodi as a adolescent, my healthy snacks from the Grainery as a teenager and my coffee from Ralph in my 20's. But my earliest memories of Main Street would be my mother taking my little brother and I to Brown's to purchase hightop converse classics, always in black. We somehow always needed new shoes at the same time when we were little kids.. Mom's are magic. Anywayz, I love this place. The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful, no matter what the customers police record states. Brown's just wants you to be cozy and happy with your purchases, and I always am. I have personally bought three pairs of shoes this week because every time I go in there, I see something else that I love. Thank you, Brown's. You have helped keep my tootsies warm and strong throughout my entire life. XO

Brown's is the best. I have a hard to fit foot and they always manage to find something that works for me. I've been going there since I was a child and hope to continue.
