Called ahead to see if they could do NYS inspections. They said it was first come first serve, as of 8:30a. I got there right on time and they said I was too late. Incredibly rude. Don’t trust them with your vehicle.

Failed me on inspection for 'seized' emergency brake. Tried to get me to come in at a later date to 'fix problem'. Went directly to Mavis to get second opinion. They determined emergency brake was completely fine!!! When I called to let MT know, the owner became defensive, rude and nasty. This is NO way to talk to a customer. Bottom line: $21 ripped off and would've been more if I fell for the "we can fix it" line of BS. STAY AWAY!!!

(Original review and reply to owner response abbreviated to fit within character limitation) My mom brought her 2003 Passat to Mountain View Tire & Auto to have the exhaust patched for minor noise, and the mechanic quoted $xxxx for a new exhaust, but suggested he could try a workaround for only $xxx (order of magnitude less). My mom agreed to the latter option. He used a grinder to completely sever the pipes near the front of the car(?!), and then determined that he couldn't fix it. He left it to my mom to find an exhaust shop that might take the job, and said he wouldn't charge for the work he performed. The car now had a far worse problem than the one she brought it in for. I went to the shop on my mom's behalf to confirm the problem and sure enough, there's the back 2/3 of the exhaust dangling loosely below the car. As-is the car was not driveable and would need a tow, or at the very least for some wire to lift the exhaust so it wouldn't catch on a pothole, bend back and destroy a wheel, brake line or the fuel tank; also it was no longer road legal due to excessive noise, and since the cut was in front of the catalytic converter there was no emission control. I mentioned this to the shop owner and he disagreed, stating falsely that the car was exactly as driveable with that butchered exhaust as it was when it arrived at his shop and that it was perfectly safe to drive -- a stunning error in his judgment, matched only by the stunning error in his judgment to completely sever the pipes to begin with, without having a plan to work out of it. I asked if he could put it on the lift and wire it in place so I could drive it away and he refused, stating that he already sank enough time into the car and that he (graciously?) didn't charge my mom for it. He also claimed there was nothing to wire the exhaust to. I offered to do the work myself if he could put it on the lift and provide me with wire, and he refused this also, stating that he wasn't insured to have other people working in his shop. He became agitated at being questioned about the events that led to that point and said he was "done talking about this." I ended up buying wire and had my brother drive me back to the shop with my tools and some plastic ramps. I spent an hour and a half on my back in the gravel in front of this shop wiring the exhaust to part of the drive train (there were 16 ways to wire it up, despite the shop owner's false claim that there was nothing to wire it to). The car could be driven home at that point, but it's as loud as a fleet of Harleys, and no longer road legal. The shop owner was ungracious and would not admit to having made a mistake at any point in this debacle. When I was ready to leave, I told him that he failed at being a decent human being in this interaction, at which point he doubled down on his failure, telling me several times to "get out of my building". I did so, and I will never be going back. This was the worst auto shop experience I've personally ever had.Message to the owner: I know you can be a better human being than what I saw that day, and I hope that you'll get there.---Reply to Owner Response: It was not simply that you were unable to help (which is reasonable), it was that you caused far greater harm than the original problem and denied all requests to mitigate the severity of the harm that you caused (which is NOT reasonable). Cars are towed TO a shop, then driven under their own power FROM them, not the other way around. When you tell a customer, "I'll try to fix the problem but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to", any reasonable person understands that to mean, "The problem I brought the car in for might be improved, but if not then it will be in the same condition as it is now and I'll pay the mechanic for the effort." No reasonable person will -ever- interpret those words to mean, "The mechanic might create an entirely new, far worse problem and render the car undriveable, but I
