We recently completed our second renovation project with the folks at Schrader and Company. Both projects were significant and included the full range of of construction services; carpentry (finish and rough), plumbing, electric, HVAC, tiling, cabinetry, painting etc. The scope of work included bathrooms, a kitchen, and restructuring our roof and related dormers. Both projects were completed with a high degree of professionalism and significant attention to details. At no time did we feel the project was compromised for speed or price, even for those items that would never be apparent once walls were closed in. Some of the strongest attributes Schrader delivers include project logistics (the project never languished and it moved along rapidly with a high degree of coordination among high quality subs), cleanliness (the job site was never messy, at day end everything was cleaned up, dust remediation was outstanding, and the job site was always protected from the weather), and skill (the smallest details were completed with the highest attention to quality, joinery was not "fudged" with caulk). We would use Schrader and Company again and would highly recommend them for any home project regardless of size or complexity.

We are beyond happy with our home remodel project done by Schrader & Company. Since we would be away during construction, we wanted to be sure we had faith and trust in the firm we hired to do the work. We loved working with Ben, Silas And Project Manager Mike, who updated our 1950's bathrooms, kitchen and tv room into an open, modern space.. We did weekly video chats throughout the project, keeping us on task and avoiding any potential problems. The issues that did come up were handled with ease and a willingness to work together. Our house was completed on time and exactly what we desired. The workmanship is top notch and as an interior designer, I am obsessed with details. If you are a working out-of-town professional looking to do a rehab in the area without difficulty, thIs company is for you!

Our Schrader-built addition (family room, library, master suite and pergola) is now 18 years old ... and still looks new. We've had Schrader back a couple of times since for some additional work. The cool thing is, the same conscientious and talented folks who worked with us in 2001 are still with the firm!

We hired Schrader because of the positive reviews, however I believe that the direction of the company has changed from restoring older homes to new construction. All of the men that did work on the house were professional, skilled and solution-oriented when faced with the many problems of an older home. However, the owners attempted a few times to attribute design problems to the "character" of an old home. At times we felt that our "small" six figure project was mocked because we were unable to fit their particle board/melamine cabinets and other high end finishes into the budget. Unfortunately, we mistakenly used the sales team as a design team. We were agressively sold an expensive subcontracted banister which was installed into stairs that will need to be rebuilt even after requesting that it should be done last only if the budget allows. If you use Schrader because of their excellent master craftsmen and woodworking abilities, use an independent design group that provides true to scale digital renderings and follows the project to finish. It is a conflict of interest to involve the sales team during the design process. Also, subcontract as much as you can on your own. We had many small electrical, plumbing, sheet-rocking and tiling issues that were never resolved because we didn't notice them soon enough. Overall, everything was built to code, and I'm happy with the outcome, but the project ran way over budget and aesthetic details were not resolved in a fair manner.
