tops is definitely a grocery store. While it’s not the most amazing super awesome grocery store to ever exist, it’s definitely one of the better ones in the area. They’ve got good produce. They’ve got lots of items available for sale and quite a bit of international foods as well.

When I visited, there was no Coca Cola in any of the refrigerators and when there was, it was hot because they placed the hot ones in front. I gave it four stars for the friendliness of the staff.

A very large and well equipped supermarket, we could even find sugar in cubes there - which is rare in Toronto.

Check out employees don't help bag your groceries unless they are shamed into it. Also, the self checkout machines suck. They never recognize that you brought your bag, and the monitor person has to put in a code before you can continue with scanning your items. Checkout experience is a nightmare.

During my last visit, I was unsure whether I was going in to buy groceries or being escorted to a jail cell. Horrible customer service that treats customers like criminals before they even walk in the door. They absolutely know that most of their customers don’t have many if any other options for grocery shopping, so they get away with treating us like delinquents with no consequences on their end. Those of us with cars and other options need to boycott this store immediately. They have entire sections of the store completely blocked off by shopping carts or metal barriers after 7pm every night, and you have to hunt down an associate with keys (not an easy task) to unlock it for you just to get something as basic as toothpaste and diapers.
They also recently posted this sign on the door stating that no bags are allowed whatsoever, forcing you to check them at the register—where they could easily be stolen. Many customers here are low income folks who don’t drive, so they’re basically forcing already disadvantaged people to check in their belongings at an understaffed counter, where they are more vulnerable to theft than anywhere else. This is discriminatory, racist, classist baloney that I sincerely hope lands them in a major lawsuit as soon as possible when it goes wrong, which it inevitably will.
Seriously, Tops: DO BETTER. Hire more qualified staff and train them better if you’re so concerned about theft. Or maybe stop price gouging so people can afford your groceries. I live nearby, but I will be avoiding your stores at all costs, and I plan on spreading the message throughout my community about how horribly you treat your customer base before they’ve even entered the store. SHAME ON YOU.

Manager/supervisor is rude and the employees do not know how to bag items. They put chemical cleaner and food in the same bag and the chemicals spilled on my food. That’s a safety hazard. Oh yeah and the bathroom is filthy and they blocked off about 4-5 aisles and an entrance 3 hours before closing. Will not be returning here!

I have been LOVING getting my prescriptions refilled for the last couple years, but they just lost my business.I called the customer service desk because no one at the pharmacy was answering. "They're not here today," is what customer service told me. "Well, how am I supposed to get my medicine?" "I guess you'll just have to wait for tomorrow."My medicine has NASTY withdrawal symptoms. I don't want someone to tell me to just wait another day. What horrible customer service. Absolutely unacceptable.

MISMANAGED. It’s 8pm, THREE hours before closing and they’ve already blocked the way to the produce section and the rest of the store with a chain of carts. Had to navigate my way into the store through the registers. This store has set up unwelcoming obstacles, AND they want to charge $15 for TWO chicken breasts. Those are Wegman’s prices without the Wegman’s quality customer service. Get outta here!! !?

Store is not up to date but still considering the area is an OK place. You must have a card which is a long process and a lot of information to be collected about you. I AM NOT the happiest camper there!

Banned me for no reason. The security here is way out of line. I've seen them harass tons of people and put cuffs on senior citizens.

Store is not up to date but still considering the area is an OK place. You must have a card which is a long process and a lot of information to be collected about you. I AM NOT the happiest camper there!
