Seriously the best sponge candy and turtles in all of Buffalo. A lovely selection of other chocolates plus they always have their world-renowned orange chocolate. This is THE spot!

Been coming here since I was a kid..and my dad took me :) now my dad takes my nieces here and spends $ for them to enjoy the chocolate. I still come here once in awhile to get chocolates,sponge candy,and the chocolate covered pretzels!!! Which I just ate!!! My goodness are they good! :) the owner will give u samples to try, and enjoy as well. Thanks mikes

I was really happy to find out about this place right in my neighborhood of Kaisertown after browsing r/Buffalo on Reddit. Mike's Homemade Candies on Clinton came highly reviewed. The woman serving us was so nice and let me try the to-die-for peanut butter sponge candy. The chocolate was so much better than the sponge candy from Wegman's which I had been buying for years. Mike's is going to run you a little more. Wegmans is about $7 for a 1/2 lb container while Mike's is about $11-12 for a 1/2 lb but there is a night and day difference in texture and flavor. Great gift ideas in this store as many people won't treat themselves to these sorts of things but would appreciate the little luxuries as a gift. Nice and attentive people inside. Lots of other homemade chocolates and such I'm looking forward to trying.
Vegetarian options: Most of the candies & desserts are vegetarian, not vegan.

Every Christmas I buy those packaged orange chocolates at the general store and my mom would always tell me about when she lived in New York decades ago and about 'Mike's chocolate'. She promised my whole life if I got to New York she'd buy me "real" orange chocolate. Well. My mom decided to send me a bunch of chocolate from Mike's Homemade Candies for Christmas this year. I just received some orange chocolate, dark orange chocolate, some sponge candy, among other trinkets.I am so happy with this gift. And thank you for ruining the store brand orange chocolate I was accustomed to. Because yours is much better. -A new fan in Iowa.

Very good homemade chocolates! I waited too long and the Easter candy was scarce.
