I signed up for a 3 days pass and received a call from my local la fitness at Elmwood. Rukshana G The club manager told me that I need to get the membership because today was the last day that they had the memorial sale which she advertised for 44.95 membership dues for first and last month and 35.99 for month membership without a bring your own guest pass.she kept insisting and told me I can cancel withing 30 days to get refund. She sent me 40$ that I had to pay back to her 2 days later .I tried canceling my membership 4 days later and kept getting the runaround.telling me to come back this day to speak to operations manager kept making excuses when I came to speak to Alhagie-sorie. I went to the physical location about 7 times to cancle. Spoke to the assistant manager (ishan)and he put notes in to cancel my memebership and get a full refund. I keep receiving emails and am still getting charged. The assistant manager advised me that she did not want to cancel my membership because she did it want to loose her 23$ commision. Finally alhagie the operations manager called me to ask about payment and when told him I’ve been trying to get in contact with him and cancel my membership for days now and was completely rude said he sees the notes in my account and that he will cancel. 3 weeks later still getting charged.

Total scam and preditory behavior. When signing up for personal training I told Johanna that i had a long history of unpredictable health issues ( have had 4 surgeries in the last couple years) I told her this was a new step for me and that I was anxious with the new environment and wanted 1-2 months of personal training just to get comfortable. I ended up having a flare up and needed surgery. When I called to cancel my PT I was told it was a 6 month contract and would get penalized for breaking contract. It's been over 3 months of hours and hours of emailing and calling and 2 doctors notes since the first one wasnt good enough. Every email or call I get blown off and told I will get called back or hear back within 24-48 hours and then don't hear back until I email or call again after 7+ days. And then still get told something is getting processed or the Director of PT isn't in right now or something else. In the 3 months I've gotten my contract canceled but they won't refund me for the unused sessions that I can't use due to my health restrictions.

I went to this gym the past few years after the downtown location (which rebranded to Esporta) closed down permanently. During that time frame I can confidently say this is the most unhygienic, poorly maintained gym in the area. Broken equipment, roof leaks, front doors that were seemingly under constant repair, locker rooms that always had plumbing fixture leaks, reeked of feces and urine and almost never had hand soap and paper towels available. Think about that: during peak gym hours none of the dudes using the men's room are washing their hands, effectively turning the entire free weight area into a bacterial petri dish. This location seems severely understaffed with both front desk attendants and janitors, and when I factor in the state of the men's locker rooms I seriously wonder what the janitors are actually doing. Luckily I was able to cancel in person no questions asked.
At the most basic level, yes: this is a large gym with a decent amount of equipment. Once you get past that, it's a disgusting gym.
I'm baffled at some of the recent 4 and 5 star reviews for this location. You can do so much better for marginally more at alternative gyms near this area.

LA Fitness is the only gym with full amenities including a pool and hot tub. However, management has decided for unknown reasons to close the pool and hot tub. This has furiated so many members, including myself. We the people, of various needs (health, medicinal, rehabilitative, etc) need the pool and hot tub. A new contract needs to be negotiated asap! This is absolutely unacceptable ?

I visited this location when I was up for my daughter's visit to UB for college orientation. My home gym is Howard Beach, NY. I was impressed by the MTS machines at Buffalo, and how clean the gym was. There were plenty of wipes available to clean the machines, and most machines worked properly. The classes weren't offered in the mornings that I was there and the Aqua Fit class was cancelled on the Wednesday I had went, so that was a little disappointing. Aside from that, the gym was pleasant and nice. I will visit again the next time I come up to Buffalo, which will be next month when I actually drop my daughter off for college.

I liked this gym because they kept it clean and it was not ever super busy. The staff was friendly and the people who go there seem to be attractive and intent on improving their physical fitness

They'll happily take your money for the "guaranteed results" training program but good luck finding a trainer with the same availability as you. Went three times a week until suddenly no trainers were available in the evenings.
Did I get refunded for that month when no one was available? Of course not. Did I still have to pay to break the contract, even though I was the only person holding up my end of that contract? You betcha! Have I gotten my book of workouts which was part of the hefty fee I paid for this training program? Haven't seen that thing since month two and I won't be getting it back because whoever took it last lost it.
I paid for the training program for five months and I squatted exactly two times in that amount of time and bench pressed once. When I said from the beginning my goals were strength training and muscle building. I have nothing to show for the amount of money I spent there: no results, no confidence in form, no routine to speak of. Literally nothing. Biggest waste of my time and money.
Also, there was never any toilet paper in the ladies room.

Rukshana made the decision of signing up easy for me. She was super helpful during the whole process and made sure I felt comfortable with enrolling! The Gym is clean, spacious, and has a nice vibe to it!!

Pros: Decent only because it’s the only location near me + affordable ,
Cons: no sauna , machine attachments are hard to find , twice there was a cleaning staff (male) in the women’s locker room/bathroom

Worst LA I’ve ever been to. I have been coming here since 2019 and it has steadily gotten worse every day. Management clearly doesn’t care about it.
The people here are none spatially aware, so you spend your entire workout side stepping oblivious idiots who have no clue you’re there. Same thing in the locker room. Careless, selfish old naked people wandering around, standing in the middle of the aisles doing god knows what, that get aggressive if you ask to get around them.
Locker rooms are absolutely disgusting and filthy. Showers haven’t been cleaned since they were built. Mold everywhere, wet dirty towels from other people sitting around everywhere.
I pay way too much to walk into this disgusting mess of a gym that would fit in a third world country.
People seem to go out of their way to ensure that every toilet is clogged and covered in literal feces for the duration of their hours, and staff does NOTHING.
I also had a friend who’s car got stolen out of the parking lot, and the staff refused to share the security camera footage, so do with that what you will.
Will be cancelling my membership.
The place is a hovel, and dues are way too high.

Filthy dirty, heat and ac rarely work properly, and a lot of the machines (especially cardio) stay out of service for months. Also they have horrible hours. Only good thing is the sauna and size.
