“Fantastic Inn! Many thoughtful details (self serve snacks and drinks available all day and night) plus the most amazing blueberry lemon scones for breakfast. Nice linens, historic building, great location where you can walk to the fun Elmwood shopping and restaurants.”

“The hotel is a good base for exploring Niagara Falls.
The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated.
The breakfast is typically American!
Unfortunately the scrambled eggs tasted very floury. The potatoes were very tasty. The problem, as in almost all hotels, was plastic waste.
There is also no room service, if you need anything you have to contact the reception. I think this is good because you don't need fresh towels every day.

Nearby activities: There are many restaurants within walking distance in the surrounding area.”

“Spent a great evening at dinner at Russell's, then overnight at the hotel. Rooms are immaculate and have all the amenities you need. Hotel is clean and rooms include a wonderful hot breakfast along with cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc. Nice getaway for myself and boyfriend.”

“Where do I begin? "Is it possible to steam her gown?" And then it showed up in our closet. Class, style, ambience, luxury, it all applies. The best French toast I ever had, with perfect fruit salad. Every single staff member was helpful and engaged. We felt like royalty.”

“My wife booked us a room here for an overnight (we were visiting from Rochester for a show at Shea’s Theater). Right away, the valet was super nice (and free) and we got complimentary sparkling wine upon check in. The room was solid, with the highlight being the bathroom (bubbly tub, an amazing shower and a toilet with all kinds of surprises lol!). Service was amazing, and the rooftop bar was great. Would highly recommend for an elevated experience in downtown Buffalo!”

“I had my wedding here on 2/24/24 and could not have asked for a better experience. The venue was gorgeous and the staff was phenomenal. Everything ran smoothly and was laid out exactly how I wanted. Dan is the best coordinator I could ever want. He made sure everything went off without a hitch while staying behind the scenes!”

“Amazing stay. Staff was phenomenal, friendly, and helpful. Rooms were clean, breakfast was varied and very good. Everything was clean. If I need to stay at a hotel again in the area, I wouldn't look anywhere else.”

“I was there for an event: it's a nice event space. During the summer it has a Resurgence bar. Their catering for our event went over well with the attendees.”

“We attended a wedding here and it was very good. It's an amazing space. The food was good, but the service was slow. For a 5pm wedding, the last tables were being served at 7:50pm. At that point some of the entrees had been sitting for a bit. Though at 24 tables, it was a very large service.”

“I was at Aloft Buffalo Downtown for Roswell's Cancerchella. The hotel was very accommodating, fun, and very comfortable. Their bowling alley was a lot of fun and the XYZBar had great drinks and was very comfortable to socialize in. It gets very busy Friday and Saturday nights with the rooftop bar judging by the line of people waiting for the elevator up. The staff did well to work around some of the rude and pushy customers. I highly recommend staying at this hotel for a nice visit in downtown Buffalo!Rooms: The rooms are fun, trendy, and in my opinion a little nicer than your average affordable hotel. My room was on the 12th floor and had a beautiful view of Buffalo and Lake Erie. The bathrooms and showers were nice and spacious. There wasn't really much for a dresser but instead a place to put your luggage with a couple of small drawers underneath. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were quiet at night. There was also a small table and some seating in the room.Safety: I felt pretty safe at this hotel. You need card key access to get to the hotel floors via elevator. However when I left my room this morning someone had attempted to tamper with the card reader to my door, and the cover was off of it and laying on the ground. My door was deadbolt though so I didn't have to worry about someone breaking in. A few other doors had this happen to on our floor, so i just notified front staff when I checked out. There was ample security in the lobby and the bars, and I felt completely safe during my stay!Walkability: This hotel is very walkable where it's located in downtown buffalo. There are plenty of things to do within walking distance, including the theatre district.Food & drinks: The food catered for our Cancerchella event was fantastic! The drinks at any of the bars were delicious and typical pricing.”

“As a lifelong Buffalonian, I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to see the Hotel at the Lafayette fully restored to its former glory. This building is more than just a place to stay—it’s a significant piece of Buffalo’s history, and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing it evolve from its heyday, through its rough patches, and now to its beautifully restored state. It’s become a favorite spot of mine, not just for its stunning architecture but because I’ve been lucky enough to attend so many memorable events there.

The hotel was originally designed by Louise Blanchard Bethune, who is a legend in her own right as the first professional female architect in the U.S. To know that such a trailblazing figure helped shape a building that’s still standing over a century later gives me a deep sense of pride in Buffalo’s history. The French Renaissance style of the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, with its intricate stonework, vintage tile floors, and high ceilings. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’ve stepped back into a time when Buffalo was truly booming.

I’ve been to the Lafayette for weddings, corporate events, and even casual meetups at Public Espresso + Coffee, which is located right in the lobby. They’ve done a remarkable job blending the old-world charm of the space with modern amenities. The Crystal Ballroom is a personal favorite—it’s got these elegant chandeliers and a grandeur that makes any event feel extra special. Whether it’s a lavish wedding or a business function, the space transforms perfectly for the occasion. I’ve also spent some fun nights at the Lafayette Brewing Company, enjoying great craft beer in a relaxed, historical atmosphere.

One of my most memorable experiences was attending a wedding in the hotel’s Greenhouse Room. The setting was intimate yet sophisticated, with beautiful natural light streaming in. It was the perfect blend of historic elegance and modern comfort, and it really set the tone for a warm, unforgettable evening. The staff at the Lafayette knows how to throw a fantastic event, from the service to the catering—it’s all top-notch.

Beyond the events, I’ve had a chance to stay overnight, and I was blown away by how they’ve restored the rooms. The suites especially feel like a perfect mix of vintage charm and modern luxury. It’s not often you find a place that honors its past so beautifully while offering all the modern conveniences. Whether you’re staying in one of their spacious suites or grabbing coffee in the lobby, you can feel the history in every corner.

I’m particularly impressed by how the hotel has become a part of the city’s vibrant downtown revival. Its location is ideal—steps away from Canalside, KeyBank Center, and some of the best restaurants and bars in Buffalo. It’s not just a place for out-of-towners to stay; it’s a hub for locals like me to gather and celebrate.

What’s also fascinating are the stories and legends that surround the hotel. Some say it’s haunted, which adds to its charm. I haven’t experienced anything spooky myself, but it’s fun to think that a building with so much history might have a few spirits hanging around.

If you’re a Buffalonian or someone who’s just visiting, I can’t recommend the Hotel at the Lafayette enough. Whether you’re attending an event, grabbing a coffee, or just admiring the beautiful architecture, it’s a place that truly celebrates Buffalo’s rich history. It’s an absolute gem, and I’m so proud to see it shining in its restored state. I know I’ll continue making many more memories here, and I encourage everyone to experience it firsthand—you won’t be disappointed!”

“[For those who use their parking facility]
I cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding service provided by Km at Quality Inn's parking service. Arriving in heavy snowfall, Km swiftly facilitated our check-in process and guided us to the long-term parking area. What truly amazed us was her thoughtful gesture of personally escorting us in the shuttle, sparing us the trek back to the front desk through the snow – a level of attentiveness that truly went above and beyond.

Upon our return to Buffalo, we called the hotel to arrange pickup to the parking lot, and once again, Km was there to greet us. Not only did she remember us, but she also welcomed us back to Buffalo, adding a personal touch to the experience. She even escorted us directly to our car. The entire experience was seamless and delightful, thanks to Km's exceptional service.

Without hesitation, I highly recommend Quality Inn's parking service, especially with Km's attentive care. Should the opportunity arise, I will certainly utilize their services again. Thank you, Km, for making our parking hassle-free and memorable.”
