My never ending hunt for bourbon deals eventually led me to Hodges. I often find hidden gems in small neighborhood liquor stores & I scored big at Hodge. I grabbed 2 bottles of a hard to find rye and a couple backup bottles of some of my favorites. The store is easy to find as you traverse Elmwood Ave with its large neon sign. I'm adding this store to my usual hunting routine.

I would not recommend anyone of African Descent to patronize this store. You can clearly see the different in customer service, when Caucasian people come into the store. The workers greet them when they walk in, go over and beyond to provide excellent customer service. When I go in, I feel like they are overly watching me to make sure I don't steal anything, I'm not greeted at the when I walk in. I have to ask for a bag to put my wine in. I even had a worker look at the back of my credit card to see if it was signed, and kept a SHARP eye on the wine to make sure I wouldn't run out the store with it. I was thinking Damn is he about to ask for my ID to make sure the credit card is mine. Now I ONLY go there, if I'm to lazy to go to the liquor store on North and Elmwood..People of AFRICAN Descent Please DO NOT Patronize this place.

The oldest liquor store in North America?Really cool spot with a unique selection. They have the liquor license from just after prohibition and it's very neat to see.

The female ' short & stout ' with glasses whom works behind counter has a very rude attitude. Probably owners daughter...what a mouth piece. I no longer shop there. She's just rude and I have seen her do it to others. Fortunately my money's good anywhere. We are not all street urchants lady!

Located in the heart of downtown Buffalo,Hodge Wine and Liquor is a terrific family-owned business. The knowledgeable and friendly staff make the experience that much better.
