I was very pleasantly surprised by the CarMax buying experience. Yes, there were some hiccups along the way, but overall, I found the experience to be excellent. CarMax folks were very pleasant to deal with and did a great job making things right when issues were encountered. 10,000 times better than a conventional dealership.

My old car died on a long road trip and because my neighbor had had a good experience with CarMax, I gave them a shot. ZERO complaints. They even bent the 1500 mile rule for me. You are able to return the car before 1500 miles but since I was 2,000 miles from home, they wrote 2,OOO into my contract. I have no desire to return it though. I love the car.

Dealing w sales staff who do not work on commission was great. Guessing I could have gotten another $1k-2k on my trade in if I had gone the traditional route versus CarMax. It was great being able to search their inventory nationwide, to find the car I wanted. The prep work to clean up up for our pickup was very poor, with many streaky marks on exterior. Overall, I would try to buy again thru CarMax. Pretty easy, friendly process w no surprises.

If you have a car to sell this is definitely the place! It was very easy to get a quote online and then only took about an hour to finalize everything in store. The only issue I noticed was some staffing but that's easily remedied.

Great experience.
Paid to transfer and reserve the vehicle that no one else could get me and it paid off.
No haggle pricing, top dollar for my trade and the feeling or having the red carpet rolled out being treated like a VIP was great. Granted, I am a well-qualified buyer but I watched how everyone was treated throughout my experience. The staff was genuine and friendly to all. It actually felt like they all wanted to be there and help their clients. The lot wasn't "full" but people were getting the cars they wanted. It was an exceptional experience and folks like Rachel, Jackie and Avante were impeccable. I'd give this a 6/5 rating if I could.
Extremely happy with my purchase and would come back should the opportunity present itself.
