I called for help with a DIY home project in the neighborhood and Josh, although not personally able to help, took time out of his day to call contacts of his to find me someone who could help. Thank you so much, let's support this local business :)

No frills, old school, lumber yard. It was everything I needed. I needed to construct a sandwich board from scratch and decided to bus it out to Greenpoint. It was simple as heck and that's how I like it. The guy (perhaps it was Steve) just helped me pick the right wood, right size and told me he can adjust it if later I decide I didn't like the size. Great experience

The best place for lumber in upper Brooklyn. In addition to an extensive inventory of lumber, they also have a well-stocked hardware store inside with supplies for all kinds of home improvement work. For bolts and screws, and other such stuff you'll need to go to another store (I recommend WR Hardware on Manhattan Ave). Both have good tool selection, but if you want lumber - gotta go here. Also, If you have a truck, there's almost always parking nearby.

Charles X and Franklin P said it best in their reviews and I can vouch for everything mentioned. Great place to know about, glad they are down the street from my new apartment. Don't be intimidated by it's "wholesale only" look. Steve cut me some peg board to the exact size I needed and now my kitchen is ready to go.

I really like this place and the crew working. Totally straightforward, easy to work with and knowledgeable. They've got a little shop which always seems to have just what I need, too. It makes me glad to help out people in the community who do a great job.

These guys rock! They have a great selection of lumber, and were kind enough to invite me over 10 minutes before they closed to cut some wood for shelving for my house and help me out. Important note: elsewhere on Yelp and on other yellowpages-style resources, their name is listed as "Clay Lumber". This is not their name, it's Steven Supply Co, but they address + phone is correct in any case. Anyway: nice, straightforward people, with a *really* nice little hardware shop inside, which is actually well-stocked enough to be an excellent go-to resource in the area if you're looking for a quick tool or two, maybe some wood stain, extension cords, screws, gloves, etc. Prices were extremely fair, if not a little generous. I'm not sure a lumber yard can ever be a "destination" spot, but I'm happy to report that these are really great people if you're in the area, and they'll most certainly outfit you with great heaps of wood like you're hoping. Best of all: they are actually in business, unlike a lot of old and long dead lumberyards in the area!! Perhaps that has something to do with the occasional body part showing up in them when the cops go looking.
