Father & son hardware store that Carrie's great inventory on tools, hardware, unique materials to fix any thing in the house, apartments, outdoor patio, yard, doors, windows and steps and special glues and adhesives to repair anything in the kitchen or bathroom! I highly recommend them and always go there first! Beats the service at Home Depot or Lowe's! R & A serves the customer well!

The people here kindly, easily, solved my problem. So grateful! On a Thursday night, I went in and described how I had a stripped screw stuck in a bed frame I had to take apart. Some questions, and they sold me a drill bit and a screw extractor for a few dollars. I struggled at home and still couldn't get the &*% screw out, so I walked the corner of the bed frame to R&A with the stripped, stuck screw in it. They nodded, said sure of course, and had it out in 60 seconds. Vise pliers! A place like Lowe's or Home Depot just isn't set up for this kind of neighborly problem solving. Thank you!!!

This place has almost EVERYTHING! I was scouring the neighborhood looking for an Edison rotary socket for a porcelain wall sconce from 1899 (almost) - and they had it! The electrical supply store on Union between 3rd and 4th did not have it! Okay, you gotta go in with patience and appreciation for the place, but it is a fantastic store.

While I was freaking out a couple hours in advance of a Halloween party because my original costume plan had failed, the staff at R & A were very reassuring and helped me find what I needed quickly while offering useful tips for how to best handle the materials without being condescending in the slightest. I wish I knew the name of the fellow who helped me; it's been over a month, but I haven't forgotten his kindness and contagious sense of calm. Thank you so much.

They charge 14% of what you purchase if you decide to return it because of the "credit card machine", bullcrap. That's what you get for trying to support local business instead of going to home depot/lowes!

I've been here about 5-6 times at all different times of day, and each time the owner has been smoking a cigar in the building. It smells horrific.As a result I usually go to Leopoldi's Hardware on 5th ave and 8th St.
