I was involved in a crash in which I was hit by a mini van. My insurance company (velosurance) covered repairs. Luis did an amazing job getting the bike to like new condition and it’s butter smooth. Felix helped me out getting new shoes and getting cleats properly set.I rarely leave reviews but when the service and quality of work are what they are at R and A they deserve it! Got a customer for life here!

I recently purchased a new bike online from RA Cycles. I bought a new Scott ~$6k ebike that was hard to find anywhere. It was an easy transaction and Sheila was very responsive and helpful. When I received the bike there was an issue that was not related to RA Cycles but with the manufacturing of the bike itself and the motor/electronics. The MFG provided no support and then add in the complexities of troubleshooting remotely...I thought it would take weeks/months to get right. Sheila got Luis involved and he spent the time and got it figured out and worked with MFG to get all parts shipped. After lots of phone calls, emails, videos, guidance, fedex....the bike was up and running in a matter of days and without having to ship the bike back and forth. This only happened because of Luis pushing the OEM to get the parts. This was just awesome!I have been into bikes since the 80's when I was a bmx'r and there are lots of great shops that I have dealt with, but also lots of bad ones, in my opinion it all comes down to if the shop cares about cycling.Based on my personal experience, I highly (5+ stars) recommend RA cycles. The bike is up and running and I am extremely grateful for Luis and RA Cycle, I do not think there are many shops that would have been able to solve the issue like they did. Thanks Sheila and Luis!!!

Very pleased with the follow up and service from this company. Their CEO, Albert, took time to write and respond directly to my questions. Great doing business with them!

Highly recommend R&A Cycles for their support and professionalism in assisting me with a recent purchase. The discounted price was a big bonus (over 40% off). Communication via email was excellent and always received prompt replies. Also kindly offered to swap the free hub driver with another rear wheel to make it compatible with my groupset. Thank you very much for all your assistance.

First time at R&A but it won’t be my last. One reason why, Felix! He was patient, kind and very knowledgeable. He worked with me on two items needed for my bike. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Best bike shop experience in NYC by far!

The moment you walk into R&A Cycles, you immediately notice that it is NOT your typical bike shop. The place is massive with a huge variety of products, but that is not what makes it special. It is not even the decades of experience and in-depth knowledge of the owners and the staff. It is the authenticity, the "realness" of the folks at R&A. Whether you are there to purchase a bike at the price of a second-hand car, or just to ask the dumbest questions about bikes, you get the same genuine care and attention. Good old, mom-n-pops style customer service. And their website has absolutely amazing deals! The best part is, they deliver anywhere in the world for a very reasonable fee. And throughout the process, you are not left to deal with some dummy bot that keeps repeating automated responses and getting on your last nerve. You communicate with REAL people! And really cool ones, too! Go to the shop, or visit their website. You won't regret it.

There are five reasons R&A cycles gets my five stars:1. Sheila - she went above and beyond to build my dream machine. Specifically, she worked patiently, diligently and methodically with me for months, giving me wise advice, sculpting a bike I will cherish for years if not decades to come. It’s a complete show stopper. Bravo Sheila!2. Felix ensured my bike fits like a glove, that I am maximizing my power while staying comfortable out there - not only on my bike but with my gear and I’ve never felt better. I didn’t think it was humanly possible but my feet don’t hurt anymore because he took the time to figure it out the issue.3. Phil worked closely with me, sharing his deep knowledge and understanding of what really matters out there on the road, ensuring me and my ride reach our full potential and look brilliant while we’re at it. Best cockpit ever…4. The Magic Mechanics Artemio and Luis- there is no bike shop with better mechanics than you guys! Thank you, thank you, thank you!5. It’s clearly the people and their expertise that keep me coming back to R&A, but on top of that they actually have the top end products they say they do, which can be rare these days, especially if you’re trying to methodically put your dream bike together.Thank you R&A! See you again soon…

RAC is very meticulous about the quality of their products. One of their Customer Service reps (Cynthia) contacted me about some very minor blemishes on my items. Never had that happen before from any vendor. I really appreciate their honesty, an uncommon trait nowadays. Thank you so much RAC! Can't wait to ride with my new gear.

Unbelievably GREAT experience working with the R&A Cycles team on the purchase and configuration of a new Cervelo mountain bike. I don't know if this is a normal thing, but the first email I got back from R&A was from the CEO outlining the process and timing for the build and delivery of my bike. The exchange continued while we worked out the fine details and then BAM!, a couple of weeks later the great guys from THRU bike showed up (in the middle of a tropical storm) to delivery my new baby. Not sure I've ever had a bike shopping experience like this. Would recommend the whole team at R&A to anyone adding a new bike to their daily.

This is a sad review to write because of how hard I tried to make this experience great. My intention was to spend $20,000 on a best of everything custom built Colnago. They "sized" me for a frame and I complyed. We selected parts and then I went back to the shop to pick it up a week later. I immediately noticed when I left that the wheels were out of alignment - the brake rotors were rubbing and the rear wheel was not centered when you spun it. This is of course frustrating after picking up a 20k bike - but I patiently returned and they "corrected" it. A few days later I went out for my first ride and before I left home I could hear the brakes rubbing again. So I returned, again, and had to leave the bike over the weekend to be repaired. I picked it up a few days later and went home. I found a rather noticable dent/gouge in the frame, which is obviously very problematic - "why do I have to deal with this?" is how it felt. I returned to the shop, again. On the way to the shop I heard the rotors rubbing AGAIN. This time my patience had run dry. The shop owner assured me the alignment issue is "easy" to correct and offered to send the frame out for "repair" to correct the gouge.I know what you're thinking. Thats how I felt too. This is starting to sound crazy. If the alignment is so easy to fix, why is this the third time around and regarding the gouge, sending it out for repair is hardly settling, how about a replacement right? you damaged it to begin with - and did so while you were trying to correct the "easy" repair to alignment for the THIRD time. Now I've had it. No faith or confidence in them. I asked for a refund. They said NO. I spent DAYS arguing with them back and forth. Imagine that.... Customer spends 20k on a bike, retailer doesnt set up properly first, second or third try, then they damage the bike on that third attempt to set it up. Customer asks for a refund and the anser is "no". LOL. Exactly. Three days of fighting and I finally got a refund. I also lost a year of my life from the stress. I've found a very experienced fitter to build my bike for me now and during this experience I've learned that the size R&A had put me on was TWO SIZES TOO BIG. Jesus. This place tries, I guess, but wow is the risk and the fallout going to be on you as a customer and the odds of you being upset I'd say are high. I'd also expect that if someone is set up to sell 20k bikes they would be experts in sizing them, which is clearly not the case here. I'm just SO HAPPPY I didnt end up with a 20k bike that was two sizes too big and an incompetent retailer as my "support" for the duration of my ownership. I hate to say this, but go elsewhere. And if you're not sure about what I'm saying - go ahead and try it out for yourself. Don't say I didn't tell you so though. They told me they issued me a refund a week ago. I still haven't got anything. I'm beyond frustrated and I believe you would be too. Finally received a refund. Thank god the nightmare is over

These reviewers that are putting the amount of money they spent buying a bike at R&A Cycles Brooklyn or calling its mechanic “rude” are not helping anyone. I have bought many bikes from R&A Cycles Brooklyn over the years, including a BMC Timemachine Road 01 and latest Cervélo S5, just to name a few. Putting the amount of money that I spend in the review or calling the staff “rude” is the equivalent of going to a restaurant and complaining afterward that my dinner was “expensive and bad.” That would not assist anyone in terms of understanding the quality of the meal, the ingredients, ambiance, etc. My experience at R&A Cycles Brooklyn has been excellent over the years. From my perspective, they don’t just sell quality bikes, they create a community where you can always drop by and have your questions answered. As to the mechanic, Luis, I never remember a time when he was rude to me or anyone in my presence, even when he is extremely busy. Plus, he is always punctual. Whenever I need to service one of my bikes and it’s going to take a couple hours, he would tell me to drop it off and give me a day to pick it up. In fact, there are times I am out on the bike and I need to fix something quickly, I would just stop by and get it fixed. Buying a bike is one thing. Anyone can go on any website and buy a bike, especially if you know your size. But, having a place or community where you can go anytime to have your concerns addressed is priceless. #behumble

I recently moved to Brooklyn and am in the market for a local bike shop. I've been an avid cyclist for more than 25 years so I was a bit surprised to be told during my first visit to R&A that I probably don't cycle enough to be taken seriously and my Pinarello is cheap and old. (It's kind of like being told your kid is ugly.) I came in to get a broken spoke fixed and learned that my wheels cost "only" $300 and were crap. I realize that I am simply not worthy of being a customer of R&A. I pray that one of the many other bike shops in Brooklyn will accept my patronage.
