Super kind and helpful people! Great selection and great quality. We didn't see the cut(s) we needed for our recipe, but were pointed to an alternative that worked perfectly. Def our favorite butcher in the Park Slope/Prospect Heights area!

We recently placed an order of brisket, ground beef, & pork belly for a Halloween party. We have never received so many compliments on the food before. The BBQ was an absolute HIT!!If you're looking for a friendly butcher with some of the best quality meats in BK. Then pop into Prospect and come see Rebecca & Co!!

Fast and friendly service. From your standard cow/pig/chicken to the more extraordinary lamb & duck. They have it all!

Let me begin by saying that my wife and I think that Prospect Butcher is one of the best butcher shops in central Brooklyn. The staff is terrific and the quality of the meat and dry goods is excellent. That will help explain why we were so surprised this afternoon. My wife decided to test out the Meat Kit Subscription, a "curated monthly meat kit program" that promises "a handcrafted postcard recipe, a skillfully crafted write up from Jacob, and enough meat and dry goods to feed a family of 4!" We were eagerly looking forward to our first pickup this evening and were startled to find such meager fare. The kit falls short in both scale and value. While technically it provides 4 (nice-looking) duck legs for 4 people, I guess they'll have to split the beer. And the $85 monthly charge apparently purchased $30 in duck and roughly $17-18 in dry goods. We really love supporting local businesses but the economics of this really don't work. Bit of a bummer, really.

Great addition to the local neighborhood with high quality meat and an large selection of other accoutrements condiments and canned goods. My only negative is that this spot suffers from tip creep like a growing number of other stores in Park Slope / Prospect Heights with their POS terminal asking for a tip on grocery type purchases. Ostensibly if you’re shopping at a grocery store you shouldn’t feel obligated to have to tip an extra 15-20% on top of the prices as marked up. Haven’t seen this in any other butcher in Brooklyn so it’s definitely curious. Further as I understand it, this store is employee owned so if their prices aren’t covering their wages they could consider raising their prices?

The nicest people here!!!And of course, delicious high quality meat and hard to find cooking & pantry essentials, like XO sauce, Maggy’s seasoning, pork floss, Lee Kum Kee brand, maraschino cherries, etc!!

Ordered a 5lb pork shoulder from here spending $70, received something closer to 3lbs. Seems like the employee just sent what was cut already.

The only place I buy my meat these days. The staff is always so knowledgeable and friendly, and they have rotating specials that keep our meals exciting! Yes- the cost is higher than your local grocery store BUT- the quality is exponentially better. Absolutely worth every single dollar, and it’s employee owned and operated! So you know where your $ is goin! Thank you PBC for keeping your quality so high as time goes on!

I was very torn between 4 and 5 stars. Ultimately, I went with 5 because I so enjoy going to this store. Their meat is top notch, and the people that work there are lovely. I've had a lot of their products and haven't had a bad experience. Now for my only complaint - they need a second meat slicer. Every time I order sliced meats or cheeses, I feel like I am inconveniencing the staff due to both their body language and responses to the order (often suggesting that I cut down on the quantity ordered). The irritation is also apparent when the slicer is occupied by your order when another customer or customers come(s) in and wants a sandwich. The cured meats and cheeses at this butcher are top notch. I drive a good distance to come here, and I don't want to feel bad ordering a pound of a few different deli items. A second slicer is needed, and also a bit better bedside manner from the staff (but only on this particular point - otherwise, the staff are lovely).
