The barbacoa is to die for!!! You’ll never buy meats from a grocery store again. Everything is fresh, local, DELICIOUS, and sustainably sourced. They have all sorts of cuts and mixes of pork, beef, chicken, duck, sausages, dried/cured meats, rabbit, and broths. The employees are really friendly too. Just come here - you won’t regret it!

Although I consume far less meat than I once did, when I do it needs to be the best. There is a price attached to quality and the importance of the value proposition is clearly evident in this really well run, busy shop.
PBC has managed to cram a top notch butcher operation, craveable sandwich assortment, and a spices, rubs, sauces and dozens of other delicious items chosen with love.
The staff are knowledgeable, cool and helpful and the soundtrack is almost always worth cribbing on Shazam.
I’ve shopped here since they opened and PBC has filled a huge void in the neighborhood—when will be get a proper produce shop that keeps up with PBC and Mermaid’s Garden?

The sausages aren't worth getting for the price. They disintegrate into hardly anything and dry up so easily. Not impressed. Los paisanos is much better.

An absolute gem!!! Super helpful staff. I went in for tomahawk steaks and even though I did a bit of research before going in, he took his time to explain the cut of meat. He also made sure to explain portion size and selection. Even though I didn't get a "tomahawk steak" the end product was totally worth it. See for yourself!!!

Great humble little spot with excellent meats and good prices. Their rotisserie chicken is also fantastic and so are the cookies. Solid spices and marinades selection too, plus a straight up staff.

Super kind and helpful people! Great selection and great quality. We didn't see the cut(s) we needed for our recipe, but were pointed to an alternative that worked perfectly. Def our favorite butcher in the Park Slope/Prospect Heights area!

Let me begin by saying that my wife and I think that Prospect Butcher is one of the best butcher shops in central Brooklyn. The staff is terrific and the quality of the meat and dry goods is excellent. That will help explain why we were so surprised this afternoon. My wife decided to test out the Meat Kit Subscription, a "curated monthly meat kit program" that promises "a handcrafted postcard recipe, a skillfully crafted write up from Jacob, and enough meat and dry goods to feed a family of 4!" We were eagerly looking forward to our first pickup this evening and were startled to find such meager fare. The kit falls short in both scale and value. While technically it provides 4 (nice-looking) duck legs for 4 people, I guess they'll have to split the beer. And the $85 monthly charge apparently purchased $30 in duck and roughly $17-18 in dry goods. We really love supporting local businesses but the economics of this really don't work. Bit of a bummer, really.
