This store is amazing. They have a great selection of books and the staff is knowledgeable and welcoming. Their children's book area is set up perfectly for kids to browse, without being impossible for parents to manage.

Came here for a Children's book reading and meet & greet with the author. Walked around this small bookstore and agreed with other reviews, the selection of Children's books and literature aren't too expansive. It's mainly geared towards comics and specialty novels. Couldn't really find books that separate books from age or genre. Really enjoyed the book reading by the children's author though.

UPDATE: Megan was swift and effective on her response and has offered a credit for my purchase.Bought a book yesterday from their “50% Off “ table only to find out when I got home, said book was missing 2 whole chapters. Returned to the store today and was told by the young lady at the checkout the discount was due to the missing chapters. Something I feel should have been disclosed prior to letting someone walk out. Very dishonest practice and horrible costumer service. Not even an exchange was offered. If there was a no star rating, they deserve it.

Very nice book store with a wide array of books, especially a lot of options for children's books. I would reccomend this store. The bad reviews of this store are literally from people who didn't like that this store has quality books. This store has authors of different races, religions, and genders and that somehow upset the people who gave this store bad reviews "A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read." - Mark Twain

Purchased two books here. One was a cool book on nyc trains, and one a children's book for my daughter. Unfortunately me and my wife couldn't find anything else to our liking. There were many books with far left ideology, none for centrist or people of conservative thought. Can't say I would return because of their lack of options.Store design was nice and staff was friendly. Content was one sided.

During COVID-19 as of May 2021:Whenever I take a stroll inside Industry City, I come across Powerhouse. This month is AAPI heritage month and their sign caught my eye on some books to read by Asian American authors which I was able to purchase here. They have a vast amount of books for an open book store, 50% seem to be children's books. Although the genres here are quite minimal compared to well-known establishments, there seems to be a vast amount of titles to peruse through from fictional, non fictional, art books, political, cookbooks, coffee table books and more. They also sell local NYT artist Adrian Tomine's framed prints here.The checkout experience was "my-bad". I had forgotten to bring my tote ever since NYC switched to a plastic bag ban policy. So I ended up purchasing a brown paper bag with handles for $.25. Well... learned my lesson! Keep your books safe... Bring a tote bag!Accepts cash and card only.Support local!
