I'd never been inside. Just stopped by to look at this beautiful building and think about the history behind it.

Wonderful older building with the club on 2 floors and residences above. Very pleasant relaxed social club. Nice to have a drink and small plates for members and guests. Various activities throughout each month. Currently upen each week Thursday through Sunday. In good weather it is lovely to sit out on the balcony.

This is such a lovely place! The food on evenings they’re not serving proper dinner isn’t anything to write home about, but still, we’re always thrilled to spend an evening here!

People were nice. I went as a guest of a friend who is a member. The atmosphere was nice (not too crowded for a Friday). Food was ok, (we had to send back some dishes due to it being still cold from the freezer. It was quickly replaced.). Of the dishes that were not frozen (e.g. sliders) they were good. Overall I would go back if offered. ))

Such a fun and interesting place! Advertised as “The Club for the Unclubable”. There is no dress code anymore and a much more diverse and interesting group of members. There is special pricing for members under 35 years old. I started a pool and billiards club on Wednesdays and there is an interest in more if you want to start a chess or philosophy club! They have great parties and live music at least one a month. We’d love to have you your and join us!

The epitome of professionalism and grace. We had a last minute change to a dinner party and the staff did a fantastic job to accommodate. They made our night perfect. A special thank you to Carol, Antonio, Angelica, and Crystal!

Do you pay crazy New York City rent, but really feel you're missing out on the character-building experience of dealing with a petty suburban HoA? Just join the Montauk Club, and you can have the worst of both worlds! My original 5 star review was when I joined the club to get married there. The GM at the time was Larry, who was very friendly and low key and provided a strong buffer to the board - something I didn't realize was absolutely crucial until I dealt with the board myself years later. I love the building and it's obviously very sentimental to me, but I finally had to throw in the towel because the Montauk Club was actively a net negative on my life. I met great people there who also reluctantly quit for the same reasons. I'm sure the board is bemoaning the loss of membership, all the while actively chasing people away with their monumental disrespect, control issues, and overall ineptitude. They will lure you in with promises of how you can use the space and amenities - throw parties and host events, the members are co-owners and the space is yours! This is a LIE. You'll have to jump through hoops to get nearly anything 'approved' by the board, who will dangle the approval over your head for literally months while collecting your membership fees. Even if something IS approved and you invest time and money into it based on that approval, they often decide to renege at the last minute. Their word means nothing. They'll take your money and your time (I've seen so many people get sucked into 'helping' the club, both financially and in goods and professional services they donate in good faith) and do absolutely nothing with it. Don't fall for it! DO NOT DO OR GIVE ANYTHING OTHER THAN PAYING YOUR MINIMUM MEMBERSHIP DUES (and tips for staff at Christmas, obviously). Do not expect anything outside of the most basic use of the amenities, regardless of what anyone tells you. If you love historic buildings and the anachronism of belonging to a private club, and you live conveniently nearby, then it is fun to sit on the balcony with a beer in the warmer months. I do really miss the place. But heed my warning and DO NOT let yourself get involved beyond that. DO NOT join with the expectation that you can make use of the club in any way that is a little bit outside of the box (ie, bringing friends to drink on your tab). They will absolutely take you for a ride.

Was there for dear friends wedding. My wife has dietary issues. They could not have been more accommodating. I was truly touched and amazed by the warmth and caring of all the staff
