By far the best moving experience to date (I’ve moved now 3 times in NYC). Jake and Ricky handled our items with such care in our move from a fifth floor walk up to another fifth floor walk up. They were incredibly efficient, professional, and just the nicest guys. They didn’t rush any part of the move and all of our fragiles and furniture arrived in perfect condition. Will recommend them and Metropolis to all my friends moving in New York City.

The guys were absolutely lovely. Communication was great leading up to their arrival and they were flexible when my truck showed up a bit later than expected. They were super fast with bringing everything down from my 3rd floor walk up and very affordable. Unfortunately, a lot of my stuff was damaged in the move. They packed the truck as efficiently as possible and I can take the blame for some broken items (ceramic pieces) since I packed the boxes. Many of them were crushed, including those labeled fragile. I contacted them about my dining table that was damaged (I’m sure this was done during loading and not during transport in the truck) and they gave me a small reimbursement but I didn’t think to check my surfboards until now (two months later) and two of them have significant dings. They were all packed in padded board bags. I moved from nyc to colorado so it was a long journey in a truck. Not sure if the things were damaged in loading or the journey, but as professionals I didn’t expect this many items to be broken. Pretty bummed bc the guys were great and working with them in all other aspects was a pleasure.

My roommate and I used Metropolis Moving last month, the movers and the back office were great and everything went smoothly. I had a long chain of emails with them going back and forth about the inventory, cost, timing, etc. and they were always responsive and were able to match or exceed the quotes that we got from other companies. The three movers showed up within the time window that they originally gave us, and were super efficient with moving everything out of our 4th floor walkup. Even when we got to the new place and I realized that I had mistakenly told them that there was only one flight of stairs instead of two, they were able to move everything up without issues. There was a small amount of damage to my Ikea dresser but everything else including plates/mirrors/desks was in perfect condition. We noticed that our vacuum cleaner was missing the night after the move, and called Metropolis who found it still in the truck and brought it to us within 24 hours.

Where do I start.
First , they arrived at 9;30 for an 8 am appointment. Luckily my super gave us 30 min extra!
Next , items were missing and broken.
Third - I forgot to include an extra storage bin, however there were the same amount of items. Also, my time frame was until 5 pm. They needed to rearrange the truck, I understand that's inconvenient. Then one of the movers asked for $450 CASH
or wouldn't finsih the job!! My item were basically held for CASH.
I should have confirmed with the manager in the office, however, I had no time to even think clearly.
Hopefully, I will get the cash back soon.

there is no doubt that these Google reviews are fake. Or the company paid people to write good reviews. There is absolutely no way people would rate this company with five stars. Firstly, they showed up eight hours late for a scheduled move. They were scheduled to arrive at 2 PM from our Brooklyn apartment. As it got later and later, we kept calling the movers because nobody from the back office was returning our call and the movers kept saying they would be here in an hour, and then another hour, and then another hour and then another hour. It just went on until 11 PM. now it is too late for us to get to our storage unit and we have to be moving in to our suburban home at 3 AM in the morning. I’m sure this will be a disturbance to the neighbors as well. Due to all of this ridiculous malpractice from this terribly disorganized and completely unresponsive company we were not able to have the cleaning service come in and do a cleaning after we moved out of our apartment which I’m sure will result in the landlord keeping a portion of our security deposit. This has been the worst nightmare and I’m virtually in tears. The company’s outgoing voicemail suggests that you send them an email for all inquiries, other than a quote, yet they leave no email address that they can be contacted at. They have no emergency phone number to use after they close at 5 PM, but they certainly don’t have a problem sending their movers eight hours late at 11 PM. do yourself a huge favor and run far away from this company. We got an estimate at piece of cake movers who I knew were a wonderful company and my family has used them multiple times but this company gave a better quote and especially if we paid them in advance. I am kicking myself that I paid this horrible company a single dollar it’s been truly the worst move of my life. Do not and I do not even think of hiring this shotty operation. They are crooks. use piece of cake movers they are fabulous and worth every penny!

Metropolis crushed our move out from 5th floor walk up yesterday. Dozens of boxes and bags expertly packed and expediently unloaded. The whole process was easy and totally worth it.
Communication before and during was a real plus. Would recommend to anyone willing to make sure that its done right.

The process leading up to the move was perfect, and their communication via email was quick and helpful. Unfortunately, on moving day instead of three people there were two for my third floor walk up - even the two movers asked if I was told I’d have 3, they seemed surprised about the stairs as well.
My main complaint was the fact the furniture was not wrapped. There are scuffs and chips in the wall from the corners and edges of my desk and a sofa that ultimately did not fit (not their fault, the hallway was hard to maneuver). I believe there would have been much less of this if they were wrapped like other movers do. The scuffs and scratching included the building common areas that I do not own.
I have since emailed them about these concerns and have not gotten any response.

Overall fantastic service. Management and operations were very receptive and communicated frequently with updates. Whole process was very smooth, and the moving crew was very polite and easy to work with.

Metropolis Moving recently moved my daughter's 1 bedroom apartment to a storage unit. They were efficient, communicative and patient with a first time mover. Everyone was so nice from the people in the office to the movers themselves. The communication was super clear and the rates were very reasonable. We will definitely be using them again when she makes her next move.

Really great experience with Metropolis, over multiple encounters/moves, both for moving almost an entire apartment, and also having a piece of furniture delivered from a store. Very reasonable rates, prompt responses, clear communication. Very nice guys, thorough. They wrap everything very carefully and really take the time to make sure everything goes exactly where you want it, and they help assemble furniture carefully. I had a giant piece of furniture that did not quite fit around the curve of the top of my stairs, but on first attempt, they really tried everything they could to get it into my apartment. When we realized it was not going to fit, they offered to store the piece at their facility so that I could have a contractor take down my railing, and they later delivered the piece successfully on a different day. Very heavy/large piece, but nothing was damaged. Honest, capable, strong, nice, careful, real people. It feels as if you are dealing with actual humans and not a company. I would definitely use them again, and recommend them to anyone, for any type of move. Thank you Metropolis Moving for all your help!

Metropolis did a great job with our move. We moved within the neighborhood and end to end, they did it in 4 hours. They showed up on time, were efficient with packing our fragile items & furniture, and are fun kind people!
Communication was clear and quote was flat rate after we gave them an inventory list (be comprehensive with this, even though they do give you time the day before to submit final inventory). Found their quote and pricing to be fair and affordable compared to other movers in the city.
Made our move stress-free and would highly recommend. Thank you Nate, Zach, Mike and Kavan!

Well, the need arose again, and today I had Metropolis move 10 very heavy cartons, etc. from Manhattan to Hoboken. As with our last move from NY to Hoboken in March, the Metropolis team was totally professional, proficient and personable. The team (Johan, Kavan and Randi) were incredibly easy to work with. And the speed with which they completed the move blew me away. As before, I won't hesitate to use Metropolis again in the future.
