With the holidays fast approaching, I thought it was time to order a case of prosecco and have it delivered (I am a 68 yo cancer survivor, so I wasn't going to haul it from the store myself). I also opted to try ordering directly from a local business. Their web site took the order and shortly after, someone called to check. He said I would need to show my driver's license--no problem. He said I would need to show the same credit card I used--that was a problem since I use a virtual Amex card for all online orders and it wouldn't match. Order refused, so I went elsewhere, got the same case delivered and MUCH cheaper, and didn't have go through the non-sense. Sorry, McGovern's, this is just one reason why I haven't shopped with you in 50 years. Don't bother to respond since there is nothing you can do.

Good selection. Huge shop. Prices are reasonable for the area as well.

Disrespectful service. Strange attitude from the boy behind the counter who must have been just 21.

Best curated wine shop in Bay Ridge. Some excellent finds, including New York State distilleries and Georgian Wines.

McGovern's consistently has a great selection of wines and liquor at a good range of prices. They host tastings periodically, which is neat for finding new drinks. The staff are really friendly helpful, and even gift wrapped a liquor I said I was buying for a friend's birthday. They're also open to ordering in a brand they don't carry if you ask.

A really nice (and we'll stocked) local wine and liquor shop. Friendly and helpful staff!

A good store with a large selection of alcohol but with the most expensive prices in Bayridge.

I went into the store for the first time a couple of weeks ago and spoke to the incredibly patient and helpful person behind the counter. I left with several cocktail recipes specifically printed out for me; small bottles of several items to try; and a large bottle of liqueur I’d asked for. Today I went in again, to get a bottle of wine for cooking. The same person, M.C., was again behind the counter. I said thanks for the previous help and M.C. was just as attentive, even though I purchased much less this time. It’s personalized service like this that keeps customers returning. Having such knowledgeable and pleasant staff is a great asset.

I see the mixed reviews here which I'm surprised. There's many liquor stores in bay ridge and this one has the most variety and about the same price as every where else so I don't see how it's more expensive. (I personally only buy soju, vodka and wine. ) every time I've gone, people have been friendly (night or day). I've only had positive experiences, not negative. So I reccomends.

Usually professional staff. Strange snide attitude from the boy behind the counter who must’ve been all of just beyond 21 because I walked into the store, that I’ve been frequenting since I bought my home on 72nd five years ago, with my African American and former NAVY friend (who was serving his country when the cashier was being diaper trained). Besides the rude demeanor to us both having walked in, he followed him around the medium-sized, mind you, empty store for no reason than to usurp some invisible authority bestowed on him as a cashier. Then, the stares. As a native Brooklyn neighbor and local teacher in Dyker Hts anyway, we found this strange and uninviting behavior. Wet behind the ears and acting so unfriendly was a put-off. We’ve discussed this with our neighbors as well. Good location, but young inexperienced kids at the helm.

Decent wine selection but could do without the racist commentary against Arabs by the young people at the cashier (2/8/23). If you have so much against "Shitty Bay Ridge" maybe you shouldn't have opened up a store in the neighborhood.

Probably the nicest looking liquor store in Bay Ridge. They have a great selection. My only complaint is the pricing can be good or bad depending on the item you’re purchasing. I paid $35 for a 750ml of Kahlua which sells for $22-25 at the other places. I’ve also purchased a bottle of Japanese whiskey that was $10-15 cheaper than other places. Lastly, their rewards system is flawed. If you want points, you have to order on the app, even if you’re in the store. You can’t just give them your name or phone number at the point of sale.

This is my all-time favorite Liquor Store. It is a beautiful room that is well-stocked and airy. All of the staff are lovely, hospitable, and helpful. This includes the delivery people. If they don't have an item you want, they order it for you and call you when it arrives. ?❣️
