Booked an appointment - first of the day and wasted nearly an hour waiting for nothing.
They DGAF. It’s so poorly run here. No one at the desk. The person who seemingly is in charge of administrative work has no idea what’s going on with scheduling and seems frustrated himself by the lead tax prep person’s behavior. “Everyone just has to wait a long time,” was all he could say. And she was not at all rushed to get to those waiting.
I walked out frustrated and had to file an extension.

I made an appointment through the H&R Block website after numerous failed attempts to get through to someone over the phone (all involving between 2 and 4 hours on hold on the phone before being disconnected without talking to anyone) and they sent me to this place. The woman they had me with clearly did not know how to handle an audit letter which is not her fault but rather than being helpful and making arrangements for me to be helped by someone who did she asked me a bunch of questions that did not have to do with my tax return but questioned why I would come there in the first place (H&R Block did my taxes 2 years ago, they screwed them up through no fault of my own and I'm being audited, the website sent me to this location....). I sat there over an hour and a half and half the time she was literally just staring at me and when I would ask questions regarding what I should be doing she would not acknowledge my questions (like did she want me to leave? Did she want me to stay? I was not trying to be a burden). Multiple times she said to me "that's not my problem" and "what am I supposed to do about it?" She several times offered that I should come back either at a later time in the day or the next day, but when I would ask if she could make me an appointment with someone who would be able to help she would not say yes, she would not say no, she would just stare at me. At one point I asked why she was just staring at me and after several times of my asking her with no acknowledgement she said "I'm trying to convince you". I genuinely did not know what she was trying to convince me of and asked and she just stared at me more. She was also upset with me about the timing of when I came in because I was trying to get help with an audit but it was tax season and they were busy and I repeatedly tried to explain that I did not want to be audited, I did not choose the timing of when they sent me the notice or the deadline they gave me, that I agreed that it was an inconvenient deadline, but that it was the deadline nonetheless and a no less urgent one than the tax day deadline. But she just kept refusing to help me. Or sometimes not refusing, just not saying anything. She never ended up doing anything to help me and was not just rude to me but seemed to expect me to be a mind reader with all of her staring at me refusing to acknowledge when I asked questions but then being genuinely upset with me for not knowing what she was thinking even though she would not tell me. Ultimately, I put all the correct info into H&R Block when I filled it out (and that's verifiable) but somehow a number that was on my federal return was omitted from my state return which ended up meaning I owed $700+ when the NY tax department caught it 2 years later, which cannot be anyone's fault but H&R Block's but I could get no one at H&R Block either on the phone or in person to even look at it enough to figure out what happened. I place most of the blame for this complete nightmare of a situation on H&R Block and will for sure never use them again, however this specific in person branch and the people who work there, especially the woman who "helped" me are completely useless and so incredibly rude. It would be one thing if they were rude to me but ultimately helped me, or if they were helpful and nice about referring me to a next step when they realized helping me was above their capabilities, but they did neither.
