One needs to understand that the proprietor of this establishment who is named Bruce Silverglade is all about making a profit without putting any money into his establishment.Items such as boxing gloves, hand wraps, and mouth guards are egregiously overpriced, the gym is kept unequivocally filthy with archaic equipment for ones utilization and I've seen fist fights break out here on occasion. Please do not take your valuables to this place as I have had an $80 Muay Thai jump rope and some iPods stolen from me instead of turned in at the front desk. If you are a female, please be aware that these trainers who are using this space make advances at their clients with Devon Cormack who is one of the instructors as one of the main culprits of this practice.

All I can say is the place is legit and if you want to hit the bag or even get some mitt rounds in. This is the place to be. I went to Gleasons since I needed some bag work since I just got to New York. Coming in front desk personal will help you with your needs and charge you for your drop in and from there really you're ready to go. It's fairly an old school boxing gym and has a lot of culture. There was times when I would just mire the pictures all over the gym and really look at the history of how boxing came to be. I was offered to get some mitt work from one of the trainers but respectfully declined and was thankful though because some gyms just let you come in and out which is the goal overall. The gym was pretty busy at the time as well because the nearby hs youth came by for a fundraiser and there was free food and just prizes being given to the youth which was nice to see. I was also able to train near Pro boxers that were being filmed by either Top Rank/Dazn and it was amazing! I really was fanboying it out since I was training there and being surrounded by so much! All in all I'd recommend this gym to those who are either starting out in boxing and need a boxing home base near the Brooklyn area but also very friendly to those who just are in town and need a good sweat in or even just learn boxing basics!

I had an incredible training session with Darrius. He pushed me to the max but stayed positive the whole time. I am a coach myself and I left his session exhausted and with a ton of knowledge.

this place is as old school and authentic real deal NYC as it comes ! I used to live in the neighborhood and am so happy to see that it survived the last few years when all the gyms shut down . Long live Gleasons ! Love the vibe of this place.

My son gave Johnny Rozs $3000 dollars to join his wrestling program with all kinds of promises to help him become a pro wrestler. He also had him pay $100 dollars gym membership each month. When he failed to deliver the help promised , kyle, my son complained. JOHNNY then told kyle he shouldnt come to the gym anymore. I tried to investigate and was given the run around. Dont give $3000 dollars to this gym. No hope of getting what you are promised. Go elsewhere.Johnny Rods runs his school at Gleasons gym. Kyle paid in addition to the $3000 , $100 dollars for gym membership to Gleasons gym .Owner of Gleasons gym offered no help since he said he was partners with Johnny Rodz . When I was advised by owner to speak to Johnny, a receptionist was rude and threatened me to not call.

I started working with boxing trainer Raul Frank in February 2021 (right before the pandemic hit). Working with Raul saved my life. It was the only consistency, structure, and outlet I had. At the start of the pandemic, all the workouts were online via zoom, and when things began opening up again, we did a hybrid of zoom, Gleason's gym, and at the park (which was really fun). Raul taught me how to push myself, my mind, and my body. He believed in me and my strength and wouldn't let me give up when all I wanted to do was quit. Thanks to Raul, I am in the best shape of my life. You might hate him during your workout and throw a few cuss words here and there, but afterward, you are so thankful for his support and you feel AMAZING. Raul is more than a trainer to me; he is a mentor and friend. I highly recommend working with Raul!
